Dissapointed about Stanley cup edition?

I am somewhat disappointed about the collectors edition. For me I do not play HUT so there does not seem to be that much value here for the extra money. I thought that maybe they would include some of the old games from the series. I was wondering if they will have more info or everything is out about now? The tin is pretty cool though and hopefully gum will come with the Hockey cards lol.

I am also a little disappointed in the Stanley Cup edition. After reading what was in it I just went ahead and pre-ordered the standard. It needs more but I don't know what it is they could add to make me want to get it.

Re: Dissapointed about Stanley cup edition?

I know I was. When I placed my preorder earlier this week when they explained to me what was in the Stanley Cup edition I actually laughed, and said no. I think they even said it was $20 more here in Canada? For some HUT stuff and a different packaging? No thanks. Obviously I went with the regular version.

That being said, I'm glad they didn't go the route of NCAA, where certain players (Heisman mode) and certain jerseys are only available through certain pre-order offers and you have to decide which one you want, then you are SOL on the other stuff even if you did want it. That drives me insane.

Since it's the "Stanley Cup Edition", why not include user controlled Stanley Cup celebrations? These celebrations would not have a time limit so you could parade around with the Cup for as long as you want. There would be different buttons to raise the Cup high, give it a kiss, pass it to a teammate, etc.

I'd spend the extra money for this.

Re: Dissapointed about Stanley cup edition?

100% disappointed. To me though I kind of look at it though as I don't have to spend 20 extra bucks for this game. It honestly just shows you how much attention they pay to the online players, and almost disregard the offline players. I know all of the improvements to the game this year will affect offline greatly, but the new skating and AI also affects the online players greatly. It just sucks that the offline guys who don't like the cheating in online, get almost punished with this game improvements wise. As I was reading the features I was thinking that at least one of the features would be cool for someone who doesn't play online (11-12 season highlight video or just anything) but one never showed up. So it's pretty easy to say I won't be getting the collectors edition.

It's just hard for me to believe that they wouldn't try and hit both the offline and online market for their game so that they get more people to buy the game. Just seems like a better marketing tactic than centering the entire package around online players.

Anyway I think the Stanley Cup package should have been:

1. As SimpleMathematics said user controlled stanley cup celebrations
2. An NHL DVD with highlights of the 2011-12 season
3. Maybe Behind the Scenes footage of the making of NHL 13
4. Then they can throw in a couple HUT EASHL deals or whatever
4. Mini Stanley Cup replica

I hate to bring up the other game, but didn't one of the 2K versions have this?

I agree it'd be a great addition..

Re: Dissapointed about Stanley cup edition?

Winning the Stanley Cup should feel rewarding. How rewarding can a 2 minute long, repetitive cut-scene feel? If they let us have the user-controlled celebration, it would be different and unique every time.

I guess this will be another year where instead of saying "I WON THE STANLEY CUP!!", I'll say "Oh yay, I won the cup."
