Hopefully TD Bank Garden is in, after being teased with it being in last years E3 build footage only to have it not in the retail build really stung. I'm not sure why Jacobs has such an issue with the name of the building being used in video games.

That is great news. Thanks for letting us know. To me with this game, I just have the mindset of the absolute worst. They've never gone above and beyond what we want in their game so it's kind of hard to believe they are trying this year. Hopefully this all will what it's cracked up to be.

This sounds very encouraging, Flames.

Thanks for the info.

This is real encouraging from what I have read from the other posts. Hockey is the best video game sport to play especially when it gets cold outside. I still will wait and try it from my buddy before buying but it does sound encouraging. Game play plus presentation will be a huge lift for the series.

And if all the GM Brain stuff works as advertised. The game did kinda stagnate for a few years but I have a feeling Dean being back on the team in a lead producer role did wonders for the entire product.

Re: Team First Presentation?

All of the teams should have team-specific entrances by now. The generic rotating symbols entrance really spoils a lot of the game intros.

The only teams I'm sure they should have done by now are the Panthers coming out of the panther head, and the octopus at Joe Loiuis Arena. There aren't alot of gimmick intros, so I'm curious as to how the devs would in corporate every single team's authentic entrance.

There are quite a few: The Kings had their laser show last year, Dallas comes out under a star, The Predators come out under a large predator head, in Calgary, flames shoot out of the scoreboard, the Avs have an avalanche logo that drops down, the Canucks drop down additional video screens and use a fog machine, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Some of the gimmicks are only for the playoffs though. The Red Wings don't have any specific intro for the regular season but when the playoffs start, they have a long video and light show capped off by the giant octopus falling from the rafters. They also throw a live octopus on the ice after a goal. Since the fans are the ones throwing the octopus, it'll happen every once in awhile during the regular season. Hell, last year in a regular season game when the wings played in Nashville, someone threw a catfish on the ice.

Re: Team First Presentation?

All of EA's games suffer from the same general presentation woes: unrealistic and ultra-repetitive. Within the last two years Madden is starting to make some strides in this arena, and even this year NCAA added something, but all of the sports games have dreadful presentation and really lack that immersion factor.

Commentary is one problem--two teams definitely helps, but even in FIFA there just is not enough depth to save all the dead-air and repetition. Even if teams were rotated every other year, that would help some. Hearing the same two guys for a decade is sad.

The other biggest problem is cut-scenes that occur over and over again. Want to kill the atmosphere? Show the same animation of two guys high-fiving three times every game or what have you. To me immersion is replicating what I see on TV; EA has yet to be even remotely successful in that regard.

They've already shown clips of it being 'real time' so I think you'll be pleasently surprised
