I wouldn't include any 2K Hockey games from this gen. There was potential in 2K8 and 2K10, but not enough to be considered great. If you were to take the strengths from each, then you would have had a competitor. That said, here are my top 5:

1. NHL 96

2. NHL 94

3. NHL 2K5

4. NHL 12

5. NHL Hitz Pro

NHL 94, for sure, one of the greatest. but just like puck stated, season mode, trading, stats, create a player etc makes it a top choice.

my friend and i played 402 games vs each other that year. identical records, 200-200-2.. how awesome is that, with no more than a 2 or 3 game streak one way. just so much fun. i think 96 was first year the game kept user records, right? or was that 95?

I would have to say NHL 2008 because of changing the way you play with the controller when I got used to it. It was AWESOME! The worst one i'll throw this one in for free NHL Stanley Cup in 1993 on the Super Nintendo it literally made me sick to play it. I think it gave me shingles lol.

96 was such a good year for my Genesis. The endless wars my cousin and I would have in NHL and NBA Live was the stuff of legend.
