Re: Real Broadcast camera fans unite!

Is custom camera active in the demo? I saw we can select CUSTOM1 in the settings, but can we edit it? I suspect not, but curious to see if we can adjust the side-to-side camera this year. I'm doubtful, but you never know.

i just dont get how hard it would be, to take the broadcast camera they have now, zoom back like 2 or 3 clicks and turn it at a small angle. they should be able to do that at the very least you would think.

nope, cant edit it, its grayed out. but you can use the default custom cameras 1 through 5 though.

I wonder if they would be able/willing to patch this if we ask or place it in the bugs section. They've been ignoring this for long enough.

developers did not listen last year. they will not patch this either. I tried waiting now for 3 years myself and nothing. the main producer of the game the same producer who was to change nba live does not want a broadcast camera in.

Wait, is that true or just speculation?
Im being optimistic and think that possibly this is part of a presentation overhaul that will be in next year. I think that because now that the demo is out and when the actual game comes out more and more people will generally like the game but the one thing lots will agree on is that the game needs better presentation.

But yeah like ive been waiting for this for years now. I dont really get why its not in, if its a technical issue then fine, but the producers should say so. If they are not putting it in because they think that no one would play that way, well thats not a reason to exclude it. If anything having an accurate and (god willing) editable broadcast cam, makes it more realistic, (which i thought was the goal of the developers) since that is how we all watch the NHL, is on TV. This really makes me wonder how much footage of actual NHL hockey these guys watch when developing the game. How can you try and match the real game when your working from an outdated viewpoint.
ok i realize now this is my issue, lol im probably gonna harp on it until it gets implemented.

Harp on my friend. Let's keep fighting the good fight until we at least hear an excuse as to why they keep ignoring the fact that many people would like to see this view implemented.

If you're referring to this statement...

...it's pure speculation. I understand his frustration because something he wants to see in the game isn't there. Hell, I want it to see it revamped and the ability to customize it too. But to imply it's being intentionally withheld without good reason at the whim of Littman is baseless.

I tried to get some answers at the NHL11 community event without much success. None of the guys I talked to directly -- Jason, Nate, and Gurn for the most part -- weren't responsible for that type of stuff. It almost seemed like it wasn't specifically assigned to anyone, but that's an impression based on a few brief conversations and speculation on my part.

The only tangible info I got at that time was that the customization was most likely omitted due to framerate issues, which is a big priority within the company. I got the sense that if anything they wanted to do could compromise the 60fps framerate, it was almost a non-starter.

Re: Real Broadcast camera fans unite!

While I agree that a fully customizable cam might cause framerate problems (but then again, why last year they added custom vertical views if <60fps is their major concern?), I'm positive that a real bcam, which is fixed at center screen and swivels, consumes less hardware/software resources than the actual side cam which runs on a track left to right and viceversa. Simply put, if you're the cameraman, would you tire more, running back and forth to keep the camera inline with the puck, or just standing and twisting your torso?
