Problem with audio...no annoucers?

Ok, so I turned on hockey yesterday and realized that for some reason the announcers are no-longer audible....I haven't touched any setting, commentator volume is still up.....deleted all NHL 10 data on my PS3 and started from new, no change....everything else is fine...anyone experience this?

That was the first sign I got on both EA NHL/NBA and then my games would freeze 10 min in .
I hope its not that

possibly some corrupt data. i 'm not a fan of auto saves, i switched to manual and haven't had any freezing since.

Re: Problem with audio...no annoucers?

I had this happen last week.

Funny thing was that my 'main' TV that I usually play on was out for service so I was playing on a different TV and it had no commentary...everything else was fine, just no commentary. I have played on that TV occasionally in the past and I KNOW I've had commentary on that TV before.

My 'main' TV was fixed last week and when I sat down to play NHL 10 on it last night I had the commentary back.

The 2nd TV gets it's audio via the HDMI cable. My 'main' TV doesn't, I use an optical connection to a separate AMP. I'll have to try playing on the 2nd TV today (HDMI) and see if the sound is back or if it's an HDMI issue.....

Re: Problem with audio...no annoucers?

Well, I tried a game on my 2nd TV and still no commentary...

So I get no commentary when connected via HDMI (using HDMI for audio), but I get commentary when I play on my other TV where the PS3 is connected to my amp using optical...

I know this changed about a week or 2 ago, as I used to get commentary on both....

sure the speakers are hooked up correctly? if you have no center channel you'll have no commentary.

Re: Problem with audio...no annoucers?

It might have to do with a setting on the PS3? I know when you use a dual audio output setup you are limited to the profiles you can use.

I have my HDMI running right into the TV...no selection of what speakers to use.

Funny thing is that I haven't changed anything.

EDIT: I was playing another game last night (Uncharted 2) and I notice that in the cut scenes I don't get any voices on the TV connected via HDMI, but I do on my other TV with the optical connection/amp. Clearly it has something to do with the HDMI connection.

I know when you use 'dual audio' connections you are limited as to the sound profiles...I wonder if that is the problem?
