Offline AI tendancies need to be added

One issue that irks me about offline play is that no one plays like themselves. The game seems to play a standard game with everyone. I know Ea in some way uses the player ratings and player type designations as tendancies somewhat but that is not enough. The game is very stale because everyone feels the same when you play against the AI.

There needs to be a more visual representation of differences in what players do on the ice that makes you realize who they are. Here is an example.

AI offensive defenseman never ever really go on end to end rushes. They are hard coded to shoot from the point and to stay at the point, never joining a rush or jumping in to get involved on a play. You will never see Mike Green, Dan Boyle, Campbell or Matt Gilroy carry the puck up the ice on the rush. There needs to be a carry the puck frequency rating that dictates how often and how long players hold on to the puck.

Not a pass bias rating but a rating that dictates how long a player will hold on to the puck as opposed to shooting, passing, clearing and dumping.

Adding this rating would fix many ills with the game when you play against the AI.

1. Ping pong passing.
2. Top players not holding on to the puck long enough to make plays.
3. More variation when facing certain players.

Something else you can add would be the higher your "hold the puck" rating for a defenseman, the higher the likelihood he will try an end to end rush. While for a forward the higher the rating the more the likelihood that player will come back to the puck at his won goal line and carry the puck to the other goal line ala Scott Gomez.

The opposite would hold true for players with low "hold the puck" ratings. For a defenseman he would carry the puck up less and either clear it, shoot it or pass it. While a forward with a low hold the puck rating would cherry pick much more and take one timers at a much higher rate.

Definately Catch. This is one of the things I love about NHL2K10. You can tweak so many different aspects of the Cpu's behavior, it really makes the game feel like you want it to. Well kinda...the issues with the controls, animations, and the goalies, put a bit of damper on all that. Still, it would be great to see the same kind of gameplay control from EA as well.
