I apologize if there is another thread for this but I thought I'd share my playoff experience in NHL10. I've been playing video games forever and this is the Most INTENSE experience in a game I've ever had.

Please share your experiences as well.

So I am playing the Blackhawks and I finish the season 2nd in the Western Conf. to Vancouver, who dominated me in the regular season.

My first round is vs Calgary. I did well vs them all year and thought it'd be a breeze. But after winning the first game at home, Calgary wins the next 3 and I'm down 3-1. I fight back in game 5 and get a 2-0 win, then in game 6, I am down 2-1 with a minute left and things look bad. Then out of the blue, I pull a goal out of my xxx with Madden scoring with about 20 seconds left. The game goes into OT, and I win on a cheap goal to survive elimination! Game 7 I win easily 3-0 but it was a grueling series!

2nd round : Anaheim. OMG! This was the most intense series I've ever played in any video game. I won in 6 games but 5/6 games were all in OT. Ryan just killed in in each game. The only way I won the series was to deny Ryan and get him away from the Goal. But the intensity of this series carried over in my next series vs Vancouver.

3rd round : VAN pretty much dominated me all year. But I SWEPT them in this series. The series was not easy, as I won the first game at VAN easily, and game 2 I scored 2 quick first qtr goals on a 5 min major Penalty and that was that. VAN showed up for game 3 and I pulled out a 1 goal victory and game 4 I just killed them. Onto the Stanley cup finals vs the Defending Champion Penguins.

Stanley Cup Finals : So I am coming off the sweep and playing really well and I end up winning games 1 and 2 at Pitt. I just dominated them, being a step ahead of everything they did. Madden and Hossa just dominate the first 2 games. Madden especially, he's just a Pitt killer for me. Thinking this is going to be another sweep, I was pretty confident with the next 2 games at home. But Pitt come out with a fury in game 3 and went up 3-0. I amazingly tied them sending the game to OT but Crosby scored a OT goal on me to win game 3 for them. Game 4, Pitt just killed me. Malkin had a hat trick and I ended up losing 4-0. Game 5, first period was scoreless, but in the 2nd period, Pitt scored 3 consecutive goals. I score 2 late in the 3rd but it was too late, they take a 3-2 series lead w/ the next game at my home. Game 6 - most nerve racking game I've played in a long time. I was just trying to survive and Kane scores a goal for me in the 2nd period, but Pitt ties it late in the 2nd and it's do or die for me in the 3rd. 3rd period goes down to the final minute with the game still tied 1-1. I take a really stupid penalty with 50 seconds left and I'm thinking I'm fxxxed. But I get a steal and some no name defensemen on the blackhawks gets a wacky goal off Guerin's skate passed Fluery with 30 some seconds left and I am up! Pitt comes back w/ a flurry but I survive and force game 7!!! Game 7...... intense......I again score first in the first period and from then dominating the game. Fluery is playing out of his mind and I hold onto a 1-0 lead. But this time, it's Pitt's time to get a werid goal on me. They tie it in the 2nd and again intense 3rd but nobody scores. We go into OT, GAME 7 STANLEY CUP FINALS! Late in OT, Madden from the high slot, shoots and scores and I win the cup! I jump around like I actually was playing hockey in real life LOL! Loved the ending scene where you get awarded the cup. wish I could have taped it.

Ok whew, what a great game. Probably the best sports video game I've played in years.

Sounds like you had a blast. What I really enjoy about the hockey games is...you just never know how things are going to go.

I'm hoping I get the chance to make the Finals one day myself. Video game or not...I know my hands would be sweating.

Thats awesome, I won it last Friday with Calgary over Philly in 6 games...beat Detroit in 7.....beat Minnesota in 5....beat San Jose in 6.....Very Cool!!!!

Outstanding, Siam. Just one tip, before the hockey elite gets on your case: It's periods, not quarters.

But I agree, this game is an amazingly fun experience. A lot of people are bagging on it, and I'm always quick to bag on EA games, but there's just no glaring bugs or annoyances in this game that I can see. I think people are just being picky.

i love this game, i love that its realistic, i love that you can customize your experience. i love that people are so pumped that they are recanting their games in the forums! ggrreat game seven man! im entering the finals for the 3 straight year. i play with two of my other friends. if you get bored at work or have time on your hands check out my page, or start your own. it really helped me get pumped for the game by putting a back story into it. i send my freinds updates at work and we get pumped for hockey night. link in my signature
