Penalties - What is the trick?

The biggest problem I had last year (prior to patch) was penalties not being called enough. This year I have read several posts where people appear to be getting some.

However, for me I can't seem to get any realistic penalties. I have played three games in a row where a total of one penalty has been called. This is with ALL penalty related sliders maxed out on all star.

Am I missing something?

I dont have this problem but to help many happen out of desperation .
I get alot on me from mis matches and cpu takes alot from behind slashing , hooking , tripping I even saw unsportsmanlike and double and 5 minute majors .
I can draw a few in my own zone when the cpu wants the puck .
Hope this helps but I am playing on Pro Hardcore /adjusted

Increasing the Aggression slider may help. If you post all of your Gameplay and Rules settings I'll try it out myself and see if I get the same results. I usually get and take a few penalties every game with the settings I use.

Re: Penalties - What is the trick?

Right now I'm pretty much playing on all star with the following changes:

- Hardcore turned on
- All penalty sliders maxed

Everything else pretty much default.

Thanks for trying to help. Really hoping something works for me since without penalties realistically being called (for both CPU and human), not sure I can work with that.

Re: Penalties - What is the trick?

Tried maxing aggression for a few games and saw same result. Between CPU and me we had only one penalty.

Re: Penalties - What is the trick?

I'm playing cpu v cpu and am averaging about 4-5 a game in total...I have it set on all-star, penalty and fighting slider maxed...cpu penalties maxed....aggression maxed, hit power maxed, hitting difficulty one click....lowered poke check and stick lift effectiveness to one click.

10min periods.

I would prefer to see more penalties though...however, I am still tweaking

Redshirt - just for info in cpu v cpu mode I have seen 1 fight in about 5 games...which is better than I thought I would, but it could do with being more. Some post whistle scrums as well which have led to a couple of roughing and the one major for fighting...nice to see it's there in cpu v cpu mode, but it could do with it happening a little more often.

Re: Penalties - What is the trick?

I think penalties have been good for my games. I played a game last nite 8 minute periods. B's/Flyers.
I was Boston. I had like 8 power plays to Phillys 3. Variety of calls. Post whistle and during gameplay.
On two seperate occasions Carcillo got 4 minutes for altercations after the whistle. It was nice to see that my team never got called for anything on those. I set post whistle to realistic, or whatever that setting was. Seems to work great.

Hhmm....not sure what else to try. Penalties a big part so without them kind of hard to get into it.

What's the avg on penalties in a real NHL game?

Re: Penalties - What is the trick?

So you have the first Penalty slider maxed (in rules), then you go into Gameplay Settings > AI and have CPU Penalties and CPU Teammate Penalties all maxed out? I even had to lower the CPU Penalties because I was getting like 8 powerplays a game on 8 minute periods.
