Why does the Franchise Mode still feel so BASIC in 2010???

I just picked up this game today and went right into their newly touted Franchise/GM mode to see what so deep and evolutionary about it. Aside from the ability to now to some GM scouting/negotiating in trades its the same boring and lackluster Franchise mode as last year!

Now you got a cell phone that you track your GM reputation around the league, do some prospecting, scouting, trade rumors, etc.

However, the most basic of Franchise Features is still oddly absent from the game such as the simple ability to see scores from around the league...you cant! You cant even see other matchups or schedules around the league either. Why!??

So basically your playing alone in this touted "GM/Franchise" mode because you get no sensation whatsoever that there are teams playing in the league with you other than a Standings screen. No boxscores recorded of your own games or other teams games that you can track throughout the season. No History of scores around the league. No way to view other games in the league. No way to play or watch other teams if you wanted to. No way to even see who else is scheduled to play who.

Are you kidding me EA?....This is a very disappointing Franchise Mode...again this year. Why didnt they add more meat to this mode? The way they advertised it, I was sure to think that this would be a fantatastic franchise mode....There's just so many things completey absent from making this a deep Franchise game.

I think their problem is they spread themselves too thin with simply too many MODES to allow the player to play in. (Most of which I think are useless just to pad their bullets of Features on the back of the box....and impress their shareholders)

Slightly Disappointed

You're aware that you can do all that sort of thing in Season mode right? Franchise mode is meant that you control one team not all 30.

It's a very odd game design decision, I agree. And I have the exact same complaint with FIFA.

I think your missing my point, Im not looking to control any other team but my own...Im just looking for a sensation of a real living franchise/league going on around me. There are no boxscores, schedules, or News for any of the teams other than my own team.

Play Madden or even better yet...NBA 2K9 and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Each day you play, you can see boxscores, headlines and news talk of the entire league. Not just your own team.....This aspect of the game is completely absent from NHL 2010

Ahh ok, yeah I hear where you're coming from, though thats something to be added to the wishlist, would be a logical thing to have. Perhaps if they do indeed plan to blowout presentation in NHL11 that could be one thing the're looking at.

I'd imagine it still has the same league leaders pages and league standing stats pages as before.

From my point of view I agree....although we have the consolation of season mode (when I get the game) which I'm hoping does provide box scores/fixtures etc...at least that way I can watch any game from any side's schedule, even if it means controlling all the teams.
