Re: Official FIFA 12 Custom Team Tactics Thread

I've watched some CPU vs. CPU games to really try and study how the CPU plays.

I think shooting and crossing for CTTs need to be in the 80s and 90s. I've tried it and it seems to be better. I just don't see enough shooting or crossing from CPU teams without bumping those up. I see posts on here about how "Lampard shot from way out on me" or "Real took some long distance shots". The problem appears to be when you are not playing the top teams, you rarely see those type of shots. The CPU just wants to walk it in. Anyway, that's just been my experience so far. Opinions may vary.

Re: Official FIFA 12 Custom Team Tactics Thread

What amazing work this is! I've tweaked sliders and more recently gameplans on Madden for years, always eventually finding the most realistic settings possible, but for some reason I've never even given it a second thought with Fifa, and settled for EA's out-of-the-box 'arcade' style gameplay on world class or legendary. The adjustable gameplay sliders are the main reason I even thought it would be possible to create sim-style soccer this year. I'm basically using your set Krebstar, with slightly higher GK abilities and shot error for both teams and 15 min halves, seeing some great games.

You've already made this game infinitely better for me so thanks for that.

If I can be of any assistance in all this I'll do what I can, as I said I have extensive experience in tweaking Madden but I'm completely out of my depth here as I've never touched on anything other than formations and starting line-ups.

Out of curiosity, how far do you intend to go with this project?

I know it's been said we're focusing on the EPL first, and the only team missing thus far is Man City, but I'm really hoping you intend to cover at least the top few teams from the Spanish, Italian, German & French leagues, plus some generic sets for the other teams in these leagues and the lower English leagues. The reason I ask is that I like to run one CM from English League 1 or 2 and strive for promotion over multiple seasons. And right now, noticing the success of using these custom tactics I'm reluctant to start a CM with any team at all until I have some set or another to cover every possible team I could play (cup competitions etc).

Again, thanks infinitely for this! Can't wait till we have more and I can get down to the bread and butter of CM!

Would the tactic take effect even if I'm in mid season?

As of now, the goal is to get some more generic UK ones done to apply down through the entire FA. After that, I'd like to get some done for Germany but they'll mostly be generic and just putting a certain style with a certain team. Same goes for the other big leagues.

Thanks for the reply dude. Sounds good to me, hopefully with a few people working together we can get this done pretty quickly and get on with enjoying the game. I'm gonna do some extensive reading on tactics from fifa 10 & 11, take into account the need for higher aggression and lower build up speed in this years version and see what I can come up with. I'm probably more familiar with the Spanish leagues though, so I'll try and get Barcelona & Real Madrid ones done first, maybe a couple others and/or a generic spanish one for the rest. Hope this will be of some help. As I said though, totally inexperienced with this so I can't guarantee there'll be of any use haha. I'll post what I can come up with later on today

Re: Official FIFA 12 Custom Team Tactics Thread

Just checking in again. I can't stop playing the CM I started as Stewart Downing, so I haven't gotten around to working on finding how all the lower league teams play, lol. That preview didn't touch on the playing style of lower leagues as much.

One thing you find is that as you move down, the more direct the play becomes simply because the skill isn't there. So for League 1 and 2, it will be mostly teams that play like Stoke and slight variations to that. The Championship has more variety.

I think I'm finally going to apply some of these CTT tonight or tomorrow and get to testing what we have so far. The nice thing about playing as only one player on the pitch is that I've watched about 30 matches where it's almost all CPU vs. CPU play.

The one thing I've liked from what I've seen so far is that individual players stand out with their own style. E.g.: I played Spurs last night and Bale was dynamic down the wing running past my full backs and showing great dribbling skill. So when we find the "sweet spot" with sliders and basic tactics, the players will play as they should within it.

Re: Official FIFA 12 Custom Team Tactics Thread

Okay so here's what I've got. I know you said you're focusing on the FA and I'm looking forward to those myself, but I hope someone can find some use for these. At first glance they might look somewhat extreme in places when compared to the EPL numbers on the front page. Just bear in mind the differences in Spanish football, lots of possession, lots of chances created, and typically high scoring affairs (at least 2-3 goals in most games). After watching some CPU vs CPU matches I'm pleased with the results, watching Barca play Real is uncanny! Makes for some great clashes of styles between top English and Spanish clubs too. Anyway enough blabbing, give these a go when you can find time and let me know what you think

Very nice.

All of those have been added to the "Index" in the 2nd post.

Re: Official FIFA 12 Custom Team Tactics Thread

Nice job by all that have contributed. However, as a Fifa veteran, but CT rookie, I am confused as to how to apply these.

First, after saving the original, how do I save the same CT for another team without taking a slot? For example, I filled in Everton's CT (CT 5 on mine). When going to Norwich, I set CT 5 as default, BUT, aren't I forced to save that as another CT (19 in mine)? If not, when I play Norwich, their default will go back to the default out-of-the box, right?

Second, where can I apply these in game. For example, I am playing Olympiakos and want to give them CT 5 (my Everton set); where/when do I do this? Do I have to take control of the opponent, set the CT, and then switch back to my team?

Sorry for the basic questions, and thanks for all the work.

For the first question, say you made your Everton CT and it's CT 5. Then, go into Norwich's CT's and right away you'll see you've highlighted something at the top of the menu. Just hit A or X depending on what system you're on. Then from the list choose CT 5 Everton. You don't then have to save it again, thus freeing up more slots.

As for the second question, not too sure, but you could try that.
