Yes, CTT's are stored in the user profile but the assignment to different teams is stored in the squads file. You need to select current customized when starting a career for the CTT assignments and any other squad changes to take effect during a career.

Just a heads up, I want to attempt to revive this a bit. I think with the combination of sliders and tactics the game can still be nice against the AI.

I think we might have to go with just a large set of "generic" tactics. Just as many different kinds as possible and assign them to teams.

My hopes are rather low that this can make me get back into FIFA, but I want to give it a shot. Especially after finding this site:

Basically, it's just a great resource to see how teams play. My goal is to make many generic sets of CTTs and then apply them to teams, which that site will come in handy for. See teams possession, shooting average, etc. Also, for the bigger leagues, there are characteristics for each team.

I started doing some testing last night and I was fairly happy with the results. Unless a team only plays counter-attacking football, the build up speed needs to be low for realistic attacks from the AI. Even setting buildup to slow and passing to long, you still get realistic long ball tactics, but the AI will still slow down and build.

Also, as much as I hate to say it, each team may need a custom formation. Once again, it would just be generic ones assigned to different teams. This is because when you look at the default formations the AI uses, they're rubbish. All midfielders are set to "normal" for attacking, which is why most AI attacks are two strikers against 4-6 defenders. If we make basic formations 442, 4231, 4411, 44312 and so on, we can give them better settings such as defenders not attacking and midfielders set to 'high' attacking so the AI actually builds attacks.

I could be crazy, but I really feel with tweaking, this game can be pretty damn realistic. It'll take a bit of time, but honestly not a ton.

Anyone know off the top of their head how many custom formations we can have in the game?
