Custom Tactics Project from the EA Boards

It appears that the Custom Team Tactics have a bigger influence on the game this year than last.

Here is a thread from the EA boards about a project that has everyone contributing and testing some great ideas about what their favorite team's play style. They are getting great results. The thread is very similar to any slider thread that we have here regardless of the game.

Here's the thread:

Here is a thread with everything that's been done:

Great idea, I was just searching the net for custom tactics. I'm looking for tactics for the Coca-cola leagues.

It looks like they're being a bit selfish in terms of getting the tactics out to the community via the EA Locker Room type thingy. I never understood this. When people do the NCAA rosters on here, etc, it doesn't seem like they want to keep it to themselves.

I'll be sure to share them if I get my hands on them. Just give me your gamertag.

Re: Custom Tactics Project from the EA Boards

This is wonderful news. In terms of starting a EPL Manager Mode, the 360 patch is out tomorrow, and I can still assign custom tactics while in MM to another team.

Wonderful stuff. Can't wait to get home and try these out in exhibition. Fingers crossed the CPU stops pressuring so much, and maybe, just maybe they don't go forward 98% of the time.

Also, let me know if anyone wants to tackle these tactics so that at least we can share them within OUR community.

Re: Custom Tactics Project from the EA Boards

I have all the EPL ones put in that are currently up, and they've made a difference from what I can tell so far. Can not wait to get these into Manager Mode.

Then of course there is the issue of all lower league English sides with their tactics all set to 70...

A fix is in the works, apparently, but that would most likely mean starting another new MM. *sigh*

Re: Custom Tactics Project from the EA Boards

The lower sides are too aggressive with the tactics set at 70 for everything. They need to be more cautious on attack (lower buildup speed = less men pushing forward; lower pass risk = fewer aggressive runs around the box) and in defence with more of a withdrawn and compact shape (lower pressure and width).

I liked to lower aggression (leads to double teaming) last year, although a case can be made that weaker teams will attack the ball aggressively and be more physical than a highly skilled team. It's just a matter of balancing reality with functionality, as while they may in the final third, they certainly don't do it all over the pitch like they do on the default tactics.

Really I'm not a fan of aggression settings over 67 for any team, as the constant double-team chasing just seems off to me. But that's me... maybe I'm the problem.

It's really an either or thing...if you want fouls you need to crank that up but then it leads to other problems. I wish aggression was truly just tackle aggression and they had another set of defensive tactics like double team, contain etc.

I was messing around with Accrington against the big sides, I had zero buildup, 100 long pass, 100 risk pass etc.

I wish bad teams would just put 10 men behind the ball all day long and try to get one or two lucky bounces for a goal. I liked that in WC 2006.

I just create custom tactics as I go along, like home/away tactics. 5-star against minnows etc. You can be too perfect here and try to get exact runs right like on the EA boards.
