I just played my first all manual and got beat by Arsenal 1-0 Man U, on world class so i was quite pleased. Although my crossing and passing in the final third was woeful.
Thanks. I will try it. I didn't like manual last year but if is improved on this year I may try it.

1- when i pass the ball, the passer runs forward about 10m.. this is ok with midfield and ST players, but can i stop my CB from doing that? is this an option in the game or is it just programmed like that?

2- can the formation be customized, i mean can i freely change the players positions (like it was on pes) or just stick to the saved fixed formations? i tried to change the positioning at 'team management' but couldnt find this option

PLZ REPLY IF U KNOW

Not sure about #1 but for #2 you have to create a custom formation. Not sure if you can do it in the middle of a game iteslf but I think you can do it if you go look at teams from the main screen. There should be an option to create a custom formation

If EA patch the goal keeper ,fifa 10 will be great.
But on normal speed the game is too fast.

Re: FIFA Soccer 10 Full Game Impressions

my biggest gripe with fifa is

i have to play every position on defense because my team-mate AI always has them back peddling away from attackers

IS this fixed.....

i mean if i have my team pressure to 60 i should not have to manually pressure an attacker approaching the box my mates should step up, I AM SICK OF THE CPU HAVING ACRES OF SPACE TO FIRE SHOTS AND ATTACK.

please someone DO THEY PRESSURE ON THEIR OWN...?

That's not what pressure does. It only affects where your teammate AI will come pressure the CPU. If you have it at 90 that means they'll pressure the CPU deeper into their territory. Having at 25 means they'll set back and not really attack the ball until it's about 40 yards out!

And that doesn't mean that the AI will then mark or tackle, you will still need to take over for the AI and mark or tackle the AI player.

Unlike PES where, you can play out of position, or a secondary position and have the AI come and help, in FIFA this does not happen! I think it's a WAD (works as designed). It's really hard for me to adjust since in PES it's too difficult to play the guy with the ball, instead I'll take a 2nd defender and play passing lanes.

Remember back to WE9 where in PES you would run at all the players. I think FIFA had this in mind and thinks we all just run at the ball. Like I said, both games are weak in this area because if you run at Ronaldo, or Rooney or just about anyone they'll destroy you. You should be able to "stand" up the player with the ball.

I digress, I agree with you that the teammates should be so passive but I think it's as design and therefore intentional.

How are the camera settings? I could never get used to playing Pro cam on FIFA, never had a problem with PES, was hoping it was improved this year.

Re: FIFA Soccer 10 Full Game Impressions

i wanted to update my impressions...

first thing - i have been absolutely dying for this revamped manager mode. that is the game mode i play the most. i like to dive in and have fun, really feel the pressure of the game. however, i am going to walk away from manager mode for the time being. here are my reasosn:

unlike some reviewers (FIFA BLOG) i do not think manager mode is broken. there has been a lot of confusion regarding signing new players or re-signing current players. i do not think this, however, is a bug. what they (rutter, marcel) have said all along is that signing new players depends on many things... one very important thing being manager experience. well, guess what, when you start out you are a 1/2 star manager... think that has an impact? YES. i understand that people want nuances such as... first team play... potential for ECC glory.. etc. maybe the manager experience is too powerful, but i think it probably realistic.

now, as far as re-signing your current players... make no mistake, it has been confirmed that you do not lose your squad! at the end of every season, the players you "check" will be re-signed. this has been confirmed. what you cannot do (with low manager prestige) is re-sign current players during the season. here is the thing.. this was actually a cheat the past few years in FIFA. what you did was boost your negotiator to 10, then go renegotiate your star players contracts... and voil-a! you have positive cash flow.

other issues with MM is the assitant manager AI... its screwy, playing certain players at odd positions. even the CPU managed teams get weird on this... i palyed Man U and the their back line was ferdinand, vidic, ezra, and giggs (WTF?)... and before you say thats not bad... well, vidic played wing back and ezra was a center!!

so, for this and a few other reasons i am going to walk away for MM... but its not bc of these reasons actually... i still find the MM massively playable... i mean, i logged countless hours on fifa 09, which will go down as one of the most fundamentally broken game modes in gaming history. the real reason i am walking away is that it appears that EA Canada may make multiple patches (unconfirmed - but their will be multiple updates??). and, with the multiplier that the gaming community is in an uproar over these issues, i believe some of these issues will be patched, probably before US release... if it does, watch out!

but, the reason i am able to walk away from MM is because the game play is absolutely killer. i have been running around the globe playing all the big fixtures and derbys. i wanted to get used to skill dribbling, so i started on all assited. i am now on semi across the board, except for lobs (i suck at these)...

and the gameplay is just sick... last night i played Milan v Roma (me). the atmosphere was great and Milan played like Milan plays (THE CPU!)... offensively, everything centers around ronaldhino with some acute passing from pirlo. ronaldhino is all over the field and feeds it to hunteelar from every direction. i played as Roma plays, which relies on Di Rossi controlling the mid field, so i was able to control pirlo. one quick comment, i know it was asked before, but the pressure the defense puts varies (i play on world calss btw). if you are in your defesinve 3rd, they do not charge. even in the mid field, they give you a little bit more room (unless they are pressuring at end of half/game).

two other gameplay highlights for me:

lobs... i felt the past two years lobs were almost useless... too lofted and trapping sucked. not this year. now lobbing the ball is probably more effective then keeping it on the ground. i love poping it over defenders head to a guy just 15M away!

skilled dribbling, and the effect on skilled players. i am no wepeeler, so do not think i can beat human and CPU alike by doing all the trick moves. in fact, last year, i felt the skilled players messi, arshavin, diego, etc were only good for making passes and trying to sprint around. well, skilled dribbling in my opinion finally brings the quality of these players to gaming life. messi, walcott, giovanni, arshavin... these guys will always get pushed off the ball by a di rossi or fletcher. but now, you have so many tools to beat them. but be sure to keep your distance!! its the difference from always goign wing, to cutting back after putting the defender on his heals. i will try to get some vids up to show you...

anyway, thats it for now... you guys are gonna love it... and i will accept your thanks on behalf of all UK/AUssi/Euro players as the unpaid beta testers for Manger Mode! hey, not compailing.. i think i will play the Madrid derby tonight! as Athletico !!!

Excellent write-up, Sir!

What system are you playing on, by the way? Do you play online at all?

i play PS3... i usually only play online with friends and family. i play semi assited, so most players want to play against all manual. and i got sick of playing against BARCA and United last year...
