Question from someone who doesn't know the Sport...

Hey guys, Happy New Year to all. I know nothing about Soccer whatsoever except that you can't use your hands unless you are in goal. On the plus side, I will say that the soccer movie, Victory starring Sylvester Stallone, Pele, and Michael Cain, is one of my favorite movies of all-time.

I am so bored with Madden and I always hear such good things about Fifa being fun. Would I have fun with it without knowing the sport too well? Or, would a lack of knowledge just really ruin the whole experience?

Thanks for the opinions.

I don't think you need to know a whole lot in order to have fun with this game.

If you can grasps the basics and the rules of soccer then you should be alright. Granted the game can help you learn more as you go, but I think it can be played by both an amateur and professional type of fan.

If anything the game got me more interested in what real life games and tournaments were going on overseas, and increased my soccer watching on TV.

I think it works both ways.

I never knew the first thing about soccer, but have played both 08 and 09 and they are both the best EA sports titles I have played. 09 gets more time then any other game I have.

It's a great fun game and you get some really good competitive and tense moments in the game. Just look into the basics like offsides, formations, and all that.

Re: Question from someone who doesn't know the Sport...

Believe it or not, I became a soccer fan after playing PES, though I've converted to FIFA this year. I'm very happy with the game, as it's more simulation.

It took me a while to understand why the controls felt "unresponsive" at first, but when you watch a little soccer and begin to understand the timing, it's a much more rewarding experience than NHL or football.

My advice to you, should you buy FIFA, is to use the left trigger often when dribbling. This slows down your dribble, but gives you much more control over the ball. If you get overzealous with the turbo button, you will be losing the ball on every possession. I wish somebody told me that when I first got into soccer gaming.

FIFA is without a doubt, much more enjoyable than Madden. Without question.

This is similar to NHL where you can enjoy the game and not know much about the sport, while learning along the way. Can't recommend it enough if you haven't picked it up yet.

Now Playing: GOW: Collection, Uncharted 2, NBA 2k10, FIFA '10,Madden NFL '10, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Mirror's Edge, SSF2T:HDR, SFIV

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous now.

Re: Question from someone who doesn't know the Sport...

From someone else who knew nothing about the sport before picking the game up I can tell you this game is without a doubt the best sports game for the xbox360. What is so great about this game is the fact that you can pick up and play from day one. Plus once you get the basics down you will find the amount of skill moves you can do is INSANE.

Where this game really shines though is online. Player vs Player matches vs someone you know is the most fun I have had playing a sports game online.
