Well like I posted in the impressions thread I picked the game up Tuesday and still have yet to open it. Was thinking about taking it back for something else or my money back. But after watching this im sold.

No work tomorrow so what better day to learn how to play soccer(football).

I'd encourage you to just be patient. The game is really deep in regards to really making you play soccer. Spend a lot of time in the arena learning how the game controls. Not just the controls themselves, but how the players handle. And start out at semi-pro, at best. But it will take you a minute to learn when it's good to rush headlong into the D and when to pull it out and reverse the direction of attack. But stick with it, this game is crack once you get it down! Brian

Hey I know this is an older thread... but could someone really spell out what is different in regards to manual controls?? I've been playing this game for a long time at the default settings now, and I was thinking it was time to make the switch to a more advanced style.

Everything is assisted by default. In manual, a left pass is a left pass. In assisted, a left pass is an AI directed almost perfectly placed pass to your nearest teammate.

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous now.

gotcha thanks Pared! Do you find that over time manual actually helps your game or does it just serve to make the game more difficult?

Re: For new Fifa players and guys who want to expand their game...

A little of both.

It could be from my lack of skill, but I don't see as many "pretty" plays with the game on manual. Most games I've played with people online using manual have been very, very low-scoring.

I think you can mix and match some aspects (like manual through balls, manual passing and assisted shooting, for example) to find a balance that suits you well. Whatever you do though, don't sacrifice your enjoyment of the game simply to make it more "difficult."

Great advice!

At first I was playing on a higher difficulty level than I did in 08, and was getting destroyed. I figured I could handle it, and although I would win a couple, I wasn't enjoying the game as much.

Now I play at a level that suits me with manual passing and such, and it just makes the game much more enjoyable....
