So are PES fans going to like this game or is it "FIFA-ish" in the sense that it is clunky, slow, strange ball physics, weak shots, etc. I really would like to hear about your overall feeling of the game. Personally, I did not like FIFA 08, but if FIFA 09 has the same sort of responsiveness, speed, and shooting as PES, then I'm there day one.

I'm really hoping the online secret is online leagues ala NCAA Football '09. Not quite how sure it would work (if everyone had to be in the EPL,etc...) but I can already imagine people lining up on here.

Another question...I'm guessing since each team has their own style now, there is no more automatic running to the flanks on each possession by the CPU?

Re: Therizings Community Day Impression (so far)

Late to the party as I've been under the weather since Sunday, but good work Brian & Michael on relaying the large amount of info to the FIFA-hungry masses.

Disappointing to hear that manager mode didn't get much (if any) attention, but it seems most at OS say that gameplay comes first, so it's hard to argue with the direction the devs took for 09. That being said, I really hope that they can allow us to alter the CPU's squad prior to any game (MM, Cup or just Exhib). This would be at least a viable work-around until they can figure out how to make it work for future releases...

I was hoping to hear that more fouls were called in the games you played, not that "they'll be in the final build". Have you tried intentionally committing some questionable tackles (sliding or standing)? In 08 there were times that obvious fouls were not called, so perhaps this could be a slight test of the new referee logic...

Great to hear all the positive stuff about the nuts & bolts of gameplay (control/responsiveness, team tactics, etc). A few quick GP Qs: Does the ball seem faster to you on ground & lob passes? Do the keepers seem more intelligent? Did they have to kick you out of the studio last night?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I spoke with gameplay producer Aaron McCarty about the lack of free kicks/set pieces in the game because of the lack of fouls. He assured me that you will see more fouls called in the final version. I saw a minimal number of fouls in the games I played today. I will bring it up again tomorrow to try to get more info.

That's it. I'm done.....for today.
I'm pretty sure I heard one of the producers say that it has been tuned a lot since our build. Some of the games looked a bit like Rugby with players tumbling down all over the field. I'm guessing when they tune the collisions, they'll tune the fouls at all.

With that said, when you do perform a late slide and catch somebody, the results are pretty spectacular.

The heel to heel move has been tweaked and is much more effective now. The ball is pushed wider instead of just straight back forward. In addition the AI plays the ball to the side that has the most space.

The move works quite well when moving down the sidelines with an oncoming defender.

vgsportsBert, would I be correct in assuming that you were at the EA Canada studio as well? If so, glad to have you aboard to help satisfy our insatiable thirst for FIFA knowledge...

Re: Therizings Community Day Impression (so far)

Thanks everyone for this GP news, they all sound fantastic. I'm not gonna repeat anything but express my worries on 2 things.
First is the speed of the game. It is too fast so I'm glad to hear it can be changeable but the online modes are my biggest worry with this as I think speed of Fifa 08 and GP of Fifa 09 would be perfect.

Next thing is the trick system. Yes, the players use them in real football but not that much and I wouldn't want to become a football match filled with useful tricks of passing defenders and just randomly going for the analog to pull out some stunts.

I was PRO EVO fan for 10 years and Fifa 08 is the 1st Fifa I've bought and I haven't regret it. I've played over 1400 games online, and will deff. buy this one as Fifa 08 for me was a great football simulation and still is.

New GP additions and improvements are amazing and I can't wait for demo to come out.

Lot of my friends bought PRO EVO 2008, sold it and bought Fifa. I was trying to convince them all at the beginning to buy Fifa, well, they are all coming to senses now. There is no room for fanboyizm in this world. Buy the best and now Fifa is the best, and it will be for many years to come imo.

Just don't fall into a trap like PRO EVO. Remember, they were always adding more and more responsiveness until it became too fast and too arcade. They lost lot of fans and lot of trust. You lead the game now and you have 65% of
the possession. Don't give out an autogoal but don't keep the lead also, score some more goals

I don't think so. Instead, look at NHL09's Be A Pro-like team/league thing. I'd be willing to bet that's what it is. We already know that 10v10 is in the game, add a Sports MMO with the FIFA Be A Pro mode carried over to online to that.
