Also, Online Franchise. EA comes out with it and already people are dropping the "well it took long enough." These kinds of attitudes will always prevent you from enjoying gaming, simply because you are so jaded you can't appreciate anything the company puts out.
I agree, c/s with this, and its really annoying how everybody is just hating on EA, honestly you prolly should've saw this coming. MMA is a sport, just like dave said, why not?

I'm not a EA fanboy but this is ridiculous

but on some other news I see (well read lol) MGS is coming to the 360, this is kinda disappointing, I have a 360 but I was planning on getting that for the PS3 soon, unless its something else? Do anybody know if the MGS coming to the 360 is MGS4 or something different?

Unfortunately I can't even watch the streaming video nor it on tv (dont have the channel and streaming keeps lagging, I dont have a good connection I'm using wifi and it aint strong enough)

Also, since UFC technically owns WEC wouldn't that mean their fighters are untouchable too?
You can compare it in that THQ has the rights to UFC. From EA's standpoint, MMA's main target is 20-somethings, most of which are probably gamers too. They have to enter this field in the sense that they may eventually get some type of license privilege. The sport is just too big to ignore.

As far as EA Sports being a casual only developer, I'd argue that. Look at what Online franchise is. That's some pretty serious time to put into a game, not to mention the Team Builder concept. These are all multi-layered games now.

Well since no one really knows the contract UFC has with THQ, maybe their deal is not exclusive. Chances are it is, but who knows.

BTW, What If EA creates a better MMA game, I can Guarantee you that most of the people ragging on EA here will change their tune...

Yeah, but THQ has the rights to UFC. The most popular MMA brand in the U.S. How is EA Sports going to push a game that most likely will have fighters no one outside of the hardcore MMA followers know about, ESPECIALLY when THQ has TWO years on them with the UFC brand? I just don't see it being successful, but only time will tell.

THQ has the UFC rights until 2011.

^^^Same thing I was thinking, ppl not even giving it a chance and its NOWHERE near release yet lol, I'm not a BIG MMA/UFC fan, I watch it time from time, I've been watching it before it got big as it is today, but I may pick this up just like I will pick up UFC 2009

Re: EA Sports Press Conference (5 p.m. EST)

It is possible that EA could do a WEC MMA game. I'm not going to turn down a fun game if it is done right. I think it is a little too early to think other options are not out there.

With that said

UFC owns WEC, so I don't see how that would be possible.

Man, you took the words right out of my mouth. Its very annoying...the double standards foks have when it comes to EA.

How come no one is hating on thq for monopolizing UFC brand so EA cant use the fighters? Riddle me that one.

Its all gravy though. Most folks are fairweather fans of whatever you wanna name. THQ mess around and gets as big as EA, folks will find a way to switch and start throwing rocks at THQs throne, believe that.

One more thing, just because I feel like going against the grain right now. (I know this wont happen, because we're not interacting with each other physically), but...I'd put a grand on EAs MMA game being better, EVEN with the fact that they'll be two years behind, how you love that?

Oh, and for the record, I absolutely love UFC 2009. I'm a fan of good games, **** a name. Game company could be named BoBo BinLaden Sports, and I'd buy their titles if they were good, no matter if they were the underdog company, or the top dog company.

But what I am saying is that Dana might be willing to give EA that part to develop for additional money in his pockets since THQ has the UFC side.
