Icon10 Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

this franchise is one of the NFL's most prestigious and frankly.. right now it's in a horrible shape.. but what astounds me is that on paper.. they're LOADED with talented and young players..

that's what happens when you get low draft picks year after year.. so then where's the talent and why doesn't it translate to on the field success?

I'm taking the helm of the 49ers and instilling my system and my philosophies and hopefully bring them back to the forefront of the league with Superbowls in the future!

btw.. I'm pretty psyched about this because I have an iPhone which i'll be using to update this thread.. the iphone makes so many things easy.. but in what way?

you'll see.. you'll see!

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Personality: Virtuoso

Initial Coach Build:
---Performance 3/5 (skill)
---Ambition (special skill)
---Charisma (special skill prereq)
---Leadership (special skill! this one is key.. and is the foundation of this coaching career!)

Off Playbook: Whisenhunt Power Run (use the run to set up deep long play action passes, that's my philosophy)

Def Playbook: Raiders Rover (it's a 46.. but it reminds me of one of my favorite real life playbooks the Chiefs used back when they had Derrick Thomas.. I think they called it Falcon or Hawk.. but he was basically a Roving LB free to disrupt the offense)

Playcalling:
---Blitz heavily
---favor man coverage
---46 defense
---Power Run

that's my head coach profile heading into this season time to evaluate the team and roster and see what gaps if any needs to be filled

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Preseason Team Evaluation:
this must be the definition of a "paper" team.. everything looks good on paper.. but it simply does not translate to on the field success..

I am BLESSED with an awesome LB Coach in Mike Singletary and it shows with my teams' strength being the LB squad.. I will enjoy seeing MLB P. Willis simply dominate that field on gameday

Really, every single spot for the 49ers have good young talented starters.. so once again I'm befuddled as to why they don't win..

weaknesses: QB, WR (god help my WR core), LE, RE

I'm hoping to be able to mine some gems from the training camp invitees specially for my weak DLine.. we'll see as the preseason progresses how it goes but I can see right away I need to adress my WR problem.. namely, my lack of any superstar WR

....installing two new systems on offense and defense, I fully expect this young team to struggle.. but that's where the fun is, to progress and win when you're not supposed to

Week 1 Preseason:

I expected it to be rough and it sure was.. what else would one expect when they have a young team AND implementing new systems on both offense and defense?!

I must be loco

49ers-pre1-yr1

the only bright spot was that my first team offense got to score their first touchdown!

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Preseason..

what's it about really?

for me? I use it not just to evaluate my roster and decide who to keep and who to cut.. but also to instill my philosophies on the team

what plays do we practice? what plays do we run?

simple.. if I want my team to be a heavily blitzing team then I practice a lot of blitzes.. if I want them to be hard nosed and pound the rock.. I practice a lot of runs as well..

mostly I've been practicing blitzing since it's a new 46 playbook and my personnel need to learn it

49ers-pre2-yr1">

0-2 in preseason.. growing pains, I hope

Preseason week 3

Morgan Avenue, Aug 23, 2008

I knew my young team was going to struggle but I never expected this.. 47 yards of total offense?!

and I hate that the turnovers have steadily increased since preseason week 1.. it went from 1 to 2 and now 3.

It's bad enough that my team has yet to pick up the new playbooks and systems we're implementing but this is downright ugly

no other word to say it.. we just didn't belong on the field against the Bears.. gotta put more work in, they better start grasping the system because this isn't fun at all

Preseason record: 0-3

Preseason Week 4
Linden Hill, Aug 23, 2008

Needless to say my worries compound by the game..

sure, it's only preseason but it is pretty much the final warmup for when things start to count and what I see out on the field does not please me in any way

-SLOPPY TEAM, their youth keep showing with constant turnovers.. you cannot win in the NFL if you turn the ball over.. that is a commandment.. yet we keep giving up the rock

-I have absolutely no DLine and it showed with LT running wherever he pleased.. I must adress this DLine problem on the coming draft.. yes, I'm already dreading a full season with this patchwork defensive line I have

I only played my starters for one quarter but what I saw did not impress me.. but that's that for the preseason, it's time for the real show to begin now

Preseason Record: 0-4

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Preseason Wrapup and Team Update:
Even though my 9ers went 0-4 in the preseason, it wasn't all that bad! The training camp invitees had some gems in there that helped bolster my young team with even younger rookies with decent upsides.

Training Camp Invitee Rookie Gems:
MLB - Deron Clark - 78ovr 81pot
LE - Chris Harrington - 78ovr 80pot
LE - Leron Gore - 76ovr 80pot
WR - Rusell Powell - 68ovr 80pot
WR - Dorien Bryant - 68ovr 80pot
HB - Jamaal Buckingham - 67ovr 90pot!
QB - Corbin McMillan - 73ovr 85pot

Here's how my Team Needs and approval rating looks before the regular season
Linden Hill, Aug 24, 2008

sure enough.. my team needs reflect my initial team assessment when I took control of the 49ers.. although I like Vernon Davis that well and don't agree with my GM that he is the first priority.. basically my team are huting in the WR spot and of course.. having both RE and LE in your top 5 team needs simply reinforces what I've already seen during the preseason.. which is I have no defensive line

..I pray my LB's are up to the challenge this season because they will be severely tested with that patchwork group I have up front

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Reg season wk1: Cardinals @ 49ers

it feels good to get the regular season started..
even though we went 0-4 in the preseason, I got a good feel for my team and am anxious to see them play when the games start counting

my worries are still here.. specially with my non-existent defensive line.. only time will tell how it holds up because teams will definitely be looking to exploit my glaring weakness

Game result:
Linden Hill, Aug 24, 2008

as expected.. the offense STILL isn't in sync and Edge just gashed my team..

what gets my blood boiling most is that my team keeps turning the ball over whether it be Gore fumbling the rock or A. Smith throwing an INT..

YOU CANNOT WIN IF YOU TURN THE BALL OVER

...looks like it's time to get back to practice and just work thru these growing pains

Standings:
Linden Hill, Aug 24, 2008

My approval rating jumped up from 36 to 81 by calling multiple gutsy blitzes to try and make some things happen on the defensive side of the ball.. as a show of faith to the owner, the fans, my staff and my team.. I called multiple blitzes to set the tone.. some worked some failed.. but that's not what matters in the end

one thing I wanted to stress and teach my young team is that I will not hold back in trying to get this franchise to the top and if it means making calls some say are foolish.. then so be it!

but we will not be lacking in aggressiveness, so I want them to run with me and keep up with me because I'm pushing the gas pedal all the way down and we either break down somewhere along the way or we get to the top

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Reg season wk2: 49ers @ Seahawks

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fall.

Bushwick, Aug 24, 2008

...how else to describe a game in where my team is down 21-7 in the 1st qtr alone and my HB fumbles twice and my QB has thrown INT's in the redzone but witnessing them still stop the enemy and orchestrate drives and somehow force OT

Even though we lost to the Seahawks.. I felt as if this was a statement game by my very young team.. down 21-7 in the 1st qtr, they could've folded and packed it in? Instead they dug deep down and kept fighting and fighting and fighting eventually forcing the game into OT and eventually losing it

This game to me speaks more about my teams' heart and guts refusing to lose.. Gore had over 100 yards rushing although he did cough up the rock twice and Alex Smith helped orchestrate some scoring drives as well as end it by throwing picks in the redzone.

Bottom Line is I felt good seeing my team fight back like this.. it bodes well for the future.. they're developing a gritty never say die attitude and that is EXACTLY what I want them to be!

even though our record is now 0-2.. this did not feel like a loss.. it's a seriously huge step in the right direction yes, I am proud of them!
