to see Steven Jackson just cut thru them like that made me so .. angry

LOL it was like during the first weeks of my franchise where i saw these running backs gashing my team..

still, i gotta give it to STL, personally.. i thought they'd tank it in and get better draft position but nope, they came and took it right to us

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Regular Season Week 17
Redskins [5-10] vs [8-7] 49ers

Game Result
Morgan Avenue, Aug 31, 2008

--unbelievable.. unfreakingbelievable

--i have nothing to say ... absolutely nothing to say i mean.. i'd like to place the blame on my lack of a running defense.. or my young team yet again, coughing up the ball..

--there are nfl commandments..
----don't turn the ball over
----stop the run
--can't win if you break the commandments.. can't win at all

Final Standings:
Morgan Avenue, Aug 31, 2008

Ultimately, the blame goes to me because it's my job to prepare them.. but dropping the last 2 after a 3 game win streak and in a proper position to make a real playoff push..

I'm a little shellshocked, I had believed, maybe foolishly.. that this team had enough talent to win and make the playoffs.. this is a hard dose of reality.

Come this offseason.. i'm taking an axe to my coaching staff and adressing my Team Needs in this upcoming draft because I don't want to go thru another season like this one

...Underachievers, how on earth did I field an entire season of underachievers?! Or is it my system..? Is it me?! I don't know.. but something's not working so drastic measures are called for..

stay tuned

Not that bad of a season for a very young team.

hey on a bright spot did you think you would go 8-8, its something to build on...use the draft and free agency to help with run defense...Willis cant do it by himself...im actually excited to see what you do this off season when it comes to rush defense

coaching is probably just as vital. learning a variety of plays and making sure your team knows them to go with improving your coaches skills defensively

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

END OF SEASON RECAP AND YEARLY AWARDS

After the end of your season.. the first thing you're hit with is a closed door session with your owner.. here's how mine went
Morgan Avenue, Aug 31, 2008

yep even though my rpeseason promise of making the playoffs wasn't met.. even though it was only a .500 team.. I guess the owner liked my aggressive coaching style and vision for the team so he wants me back!

fyi: I did mess around and see what offers I had on the table and I had at least 4.. notables including the JETS, Browns, Falcons.. but I figure stay with this team and give it another go!

..but I'm telling you now, if I get axed I'm going out my way not because of anybody else.. so this coaching staff is top priority right now and NOBODY is safe.. not Martz, not Singletary.. nobody!

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

49ers STAFF HIRINGS AND FIRINGS

Let me just say that although the owner was happy with me and wanted me to stay.. I guess he felt the same about my coaching staff because he wanted them all to stay as well..

I'm not him though.. I was nowhere near satisfied with my staff except for the notable exceptions such as my LB Coach Mike Singletary and Off Coord. Mike Martz..

after another offensive juggernaut of a season.. I knew it was pointless holding on to Mike Martz because he had offers left and right so I released him to pursue it..

here's how some position coach breakdowns went

Linden Hill, Sep 1, 2008
Linden Hill, Sep 1, 2008

yes.. I got rid of every. single. position coach I had..

I said no one was safe.. I am holding this team to very high standards and .500 is not it!

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

49ERS COORDINATOR MOVES, GM MOVES AND.. TRAINER

So the offseason began with me getting rid of nearly my entire staff.. from the GM down to the Trainer.. the only one I kept was my stellar LB Coach Mike Singletary whom I promptly promoted to replace the horrible Greg Manusky as the 49ers DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR!!
Linden Hill, Sep 1, 2008
--I also replaced Mike Martz who departed for Oakland with a highly recommended COLLEGE COACH, Chris Staymates! What he lacks in game-experience he makes up for in Enthusiasm and work ethic!

Linden Hill, Sep 1, 2008
--I am psyched to get such a great Trainer to replace my old one.. less injuries.. better conditioning.. people underestimate the trainers in the NFL but this to me, is a foundation to build on

I am excited for the coming season.. I feel that I finally got my system in place and the right coaches running the team.. throw in a better GM to work with me in the upcoming draft and a top notch trainer and I cannot express my enthusiasm for this coming season!!

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

2009 NFL DRAFT!
49ers (1st round, 16th overall)

Entering this draft.. my biggest focus was on beefing up my defensive line.. from Week 1 of the regular season to the last week where Steven Jackson went bananas running for 240 yds against my team.. it was painfully obvious to me what we were lacking..

throughout this post, I will be posting some of my pre-draft favorite players.. you'll soon realize exactly what I prefer my players to be and that is... smart

you can be the best athlete blowing people away in the combine but if you do not have nfl smarts.. I don't want you on my team!

ROUND 1 DRAFT RESULTS
#1 - Oakland Raiders - QB J. English : NFL Network reports that he is everything you'd want in a franchise qb.. even though the Raiders already had Jamarcus, I guess Al Davis couldn't pass up this sure-fire future Hall of Famer

#2 - Chicago Bears - HB J. Keller : this was easy.. the Bears had a HB in their #1 and #2 need positions and thus they chose the best of the RB selection

#3 - Philadelphia Eagles - LT J Jackson : this guy was a physical specimen and according to the nfl network report.. DID NOT GIVE UP A SINGLE SACK IN HIS ENTIRE COLLEGIATE CAREER!! Wow..

#4 - Miami Dolphins - CB R. Jordan : nfl network says bust written all over him, LOL poor Dolphins, they can't catch a break

#5 - Cleveland Browns - RE J. Hailes : nfl network says that Hailes and LE R. Hines are the two best Defensive Ends in the entire draft! luck of the draw shines on me here because in my projections.. Hines is better than Hailes and Cleveland could've chosen him right here

#6 - THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING.. Atlanta is up and they are offering their pick to trade down!!

now.. here is where we as coaches make or break our franchises.. it's our decisions that ultimately count.. and more importantly.. the decisions we don't make that hurt us the most

My teams' biggest hole is at the defensive line.. RB's gashed me all season long.. and it was because I had no one at noteworthy on my line.. my mock draft had every single top rated Dlineman gone by the time my 16th pick came around.. so I decide to jump into tradetalks..

Morgan Avenue, Sep 3, 2008

in my opinion.. I made the right move here.. trade up without sacrificing the farm in order to secure a DE that will be my franchise cornerstone for YEARS...

stay tuned... 49ers trade up in the draft with a great trade (in my eyes) and now have their choice of who to pick!
