Off Playbook: Whisenhunt Power Run (use the run to set up deep long play action passes, that's my philosophy)

Def Playbook: Raiders Rover (it's a 46.. but it reminds me of one of my favorite real life playbooks the Chiefs used back when they had Derrick Thomas.. I think they called it Falcon or Hawk.. but he was basically a Roving LB free to disrupt the offense)

Playcalling:
---Blitz heavily
---favor man coverage
---46 defense
---Power Run

that's my head coach profile heading into this season time to evaluate the team and roster and see what gaps if any needs to be filled
Your offensive philosophy is very 1970's oriented, many teams used this exact system to great success.Today's footbal has gotten away from this because of the rules changes favoring the passing game. It's going to be very interesting to see how this translates into today's game.

you're right that today's NFL is more fan-pass-happy oriented

I'm a Tuna disciple so my philosophy follows suit.. establish the run and PA for big gains

my current 'chise record is 0-2 but I attribute it more to my young inexperienced team and my dreadful defensive line and db's

but hey, like I said.. the fun part is taking over a squad and building it in your image/philosophies

Re: Goldrush for Glory! - 49ers, a Franchise Reborn [NFL HC 09]

Quick couple of questions..

1. Do you call your own plays or let the OC call them?

2. Did you build up your HC/QB Coach/WR Coach in any catagories that effect the ability on the field of the players? Im not wording it right but the word Im looking for is escaping me at the moment.

3. You still have Martz but are using a different playbook I noticed. Did you ever get a chance to run with Martz and his playbook and if so what were the results?

Its weird, you are having the problems I wish I was having. Maybe Ive built up my coaches too much and they are too good at getting the best from their players on the field but I was having these problems from week one. Maybe I shouldnt be letting Martz call my plays and should rely on my own errors in the playcalling. Maybe having a more run oriented playbook somehow effects the passing game. I dont know but Im am desperatly trying to figure it out and any help you can give would be great.

Reg Season Wk3
Lions 0-2 vs 49ers 0-2

the good news is someone's bound to win their first game!

going into this week.. I simply couldn't stand my defensive line being gashed in the 1st 2 weeks and I sent my GM to the FA Pool to try and find some help.. and find he did!

RE - Tony Bake - 82ovr 88pot (rookie!)
DT - Dre Moore - 85ovr 88pot (rookie!)

T. Bake will settle nicely into that RE1 slot and Dre Moore is a stud that rivals my teams' 1st round and will fill in quite well at the DT2 spot!

GAME RESULT:
Bushwick, Aug 24, 2008

Post game thoughts:
FINALLY! It's always a relief to get that 1st win out of the way because you don't wanna go thru an entire season without getting one

The Dline played a little better but still got gashed by Tatum Bell of all people.. I have to take a better look at my roster and see how I could better utilize my players because this line isn't stopping anyone as it stands

Frank Gore goes for over 150yds rushing in his 2nd consecutive game so that's always a plus.. wonder if he can keep this up.. I guess we'll see

1. Because of my initial coach build.. I have Mike Martz calling Offense and I'm calling Defense (Philosophy -> Playcall) ..eventually if I ever get my playcall skill to 5/5 level, I might take it off Martz' hands.. I basically set it under Team Philosophy and "Dismiss" it come gameday

2. this is tricky to answer because you can only build them up if you win and get points.. as it stands, I basically build up the lowest available skill they can get in regards to player development.. sometimes physical sometimes intangibles (except learning development), skill points come hard when you ain't winning much so get those 2,000 point skills out of the way

3. it's the playbook.. Martz is stupid with like 100+ pass and 22 run.. you can't help but air it out with his playbook.. yes my first 2 "test" careers used Martz' playbook and that's when I realized it imbalances the game.. my team are the Jets and Favre literally had 500+ yds every game lighting it up so I know what people are saying about passing insanity

...i'm struggling because of two new playbooks but truthfully.. I did not expect to struggle this damn much.. i'm a little further along in my actual franchise than what i have updated here but needless to say i'm shocked that the level of talent this 49ers team have is just.. it's a paper team

Reg Season Wk 4
Saints 1-2 vs 1-2 49ers

Divisional Game.. division rival.. season goals on the line!

.....Reggie Bush on the backfield against my defensive line, why do i have a bad feeling about this?

Game Result

Post-Game thoughts
-what a crazy, crazy game! I've never been a part of anything like this.. it's not some crazy offensive juggernaut showcase where both teams just run up and down the field nonstopped.. it was.. fireworks.. explosion!
---Saints returned 2 KO's for TD's.. and had a 70+yd TD pass play..
---Frank Gore himself had a breakaway game with one 40+ and one 70+ yd TD dashes..
Linden Hill, Aug 24, 2008

I mean... holy crap it was 21-21 IN THE 1ST QTR!!! and unbelievably, ridiculously 38-42 at halftime!!

I mean.. that isn't even the craziest thing.. the craziest is that defense totally ruled after halftime.. I can't explain this! look at the breakdown by points per qtr..
49ers: 21 17 6 0
Saints: 21 21 0 6

..too much crazyness for me to handle.. almost forgot that I lost the game again Bush couldn't be stopped by my line.. I see now that I must make drastic roster moves before my next game.. this patchwork defensive line cannot remain like this

Hey dude. You should fire your desfensive coordinator over the offseason and promote mike sigletary. That would be awesome.

Thats what I did and although Singletary is great in nearly everything, the one downside to him is his playcalling, he doesnt have the highest playcalling ability in the world.

Do you mind posting your position prefrences. For example, Prototype DT, or undersized blitzing DE. I'm running a scheme quite like yours with Philadelphia and was wondering your prefrences.

Reg Season Week 5
Patriots 3-0 vs 49ers 1-3

..you know, I wonder how many rl teams are already beaten before even stepping on the field against the Patriots because of their "aura".

Leading up to this week.. I was a mess wondering how the hell was I going to stop them. Literally.. all I could think of was how? how?? ...I was already beat before even taking the field!

I remembered my last game against Reggie Bush and the Saints and even though I beefed up my DLine a bit.. it wasn't enough. so coming into this game against the undefeated Patriots.. I made even more roster moves.

Switched OLB J. Smith to a LE position which switched is OVR to 90
switched LOLB Manny Lawson to a ROLB spot to fill in where Justin left off..

hoping that these moves beef up my defense a bit more for the coming onslaught!

Game Result
Linden Hill, Aug 24, 2008

Post Game Thoughts:
-it was close.. very close it was only 13-3 at halftime and the Patriots' only touchdown came after a blown play was returned for an INT TD.. the 2nd half is the problem, specially the 4th qtr

-Frank Gore broke his 150+ yd rush production in 3 consecutive games.. but that's to be expected against this Patriots defense I guess

-entering the 4th qtr, it was 13-10 .. but my team simply imploded.. maybe it's the youth showing and lack of experience or maybe it's just me not preparing them enough but 3 turnovers and couldn't stop anyone lead to a blowout score after running with the Patriots for 3 qtrs
