Sure will man. Have you heard anything or does the staff know about the color, smiley, size tabs not working? The search engines aren't working either now.

Re: The Philadelphia Athletics,1905 And On-OOTP 9

Waddell Struggles In Relief Role As A's Fall To Boston 6-4 In 10 Innings

Columbia Park,Phila,Pa.-Philadelphia Athletics starting pitcher Rube Waddell was forced into a cameo relief role today because of the injury to Andy Coakley and the results were predictably disasterous.Entering the game in the top of the 10th with the score 3-3,Waddell allowed 3 hits a walk and 3 earned runs in just one inning of work handing Boston the 6-4 victory.Afterwords,Waddell confessed that he just couldn't get it going and that although he'd do anything for the team to win, perhaps they'd be better served by using another pitcher in that situation next time.Perhaps, Rube. From one struggling star to another,Harry Davis showed signs of breaking out of his slump by going 2 for 5 with a home run,3 RBI and a run scored,Over the last 10 game Davis is only 6 for 41 with one home run,not the type of production you need from your best hitter. Here's today's box score

News Notes And Scores From The Rest Of Today's Action

Thursday, July 6th, 1905: 5-Hit Blitz by St. Louis's Stone

It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but George Stone got one today. He scattered hits all over Sportsman's Park III to pace St. Louis to a 8-2 victory over Detroit.

The Detroit skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Stone hit several that he is not supposed to hit."

G. Stone singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and tripled in the 9th.

In 1905 Stone has hit at a .295 clip with 85 hits, 2 home runs, 21 RBIs and has scored 26 times.

Thursday, July 6th, 1905: Ames Fashions Shutout Against Superbas

The Brooklyn Superbas had no answer today for Giants pitcher Red Ames. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 2-0. Brooklyn managed only 2 hits off Ames and suffered 16 strikeouts.

This season Ames has crafted a 11-5 mark with a 2.65 ERA in 153 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .201 against him and he has 149 strikeouts.

News Notes And Scores From The Rest Of Today's Action

Friday, July 7th, 1905: Bender Blanks Boston

Chief Bender spun his magic in a 2-0 shutout victory, allowing 6 hits while totaling 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.

The Philadelphia pitcher put quite a spell on Boston in a strong performance.

"I had a lot of good things working in this one," Bender said. "I worked both sides of the plate. I was rarely behind in the count."

This year Bender has 12 wins and 6 losses and a 1.92 ERA.

Friday, July 7th, 1905: Wagner 5-6 Against Cubs

If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Honus Wagner showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Chicago Cubs and helped the Pittsburgh Pirates beat them 8-6.

The manager for the Cubs told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."

If Wagner keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.

H. Wagner singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 10th.

To date Wagner has chalked up a .338 average with 2 home runs, driven in 42 runs and scored 27 times.

News Notes And Scores From The Rest Of Today's Action

Saturday, July 8th, 1905: Elberfeld Suffers Injury

New York fans will be disappointed to learn that Kid Elberfeld developed a bruised cheekbone while colliding with a player at a base in today's game. After the doctor informed the New York Highlanders manager that Elberfeld was expected to miss 3 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the shortstop could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Elberfeld is currently batting .354 with no home runs and 8 RBIs.

Players Of The Week For Week Ending July 9,1905

Monday, July 10th, 1905: NL Star of the Week Honored
There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Honus Wagner, the Pittsburgh shortstop, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the National League Player of the Week honors.

Wagner piled up 13 hits in 32 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs while hitting .406.

Currently Wagner has 3 home runs and a .342 batting average.

Monday, July 10th, 1905: American League Hitter of the Week
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American League, but last week Frank LaPorte of the New York Highlanders reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.

LaPorte rocked opposing pitching for a .500 average (10-20), 2 home runs and 8 RBIs to come away with the award.

This year LaPorte is hitting .256, produced 29 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 21 times and gotten on base at a .276 rate.
