GG DetriotRob!!!

Dueling aces in this one. Got alot of defense help by turning 3 DPs. Captain Kirk drove in the only run of game on sinking line drive that got past Austin Jackson. Allowing Josh Thole to score from 1b.

I know guys were noticing alot of HR's and deep flyballs. But this game didnt really have anything hit that hard.

DBACKS OPEN WITH A WIN

if season goes as opening day went for the diamondbacks, expect a lot of highs and lows. as highs go, cant get higher then the 3 homeruns smashed by upton , cy, and dreeeeeeeew. for lows, the dbacks saw a total of 16 strikeouts; something that has plagued the dbacks for years. however with timely hitting and excellent pitching games should be close and runs should be scored.

Opening Day Extra Inning Thriller in the "Battle of the Sox"

https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18524734

The White Sox came to Boston for Opening Day festivities, which saw recently retired Red Sox Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek throw out Opening Day pitches to Dwight "Dewey" Evans and Hall of Famer Jim Rice, as the Red Sox celebrate their 100th Anniversary at Fenway Park the entire season.

The Red Sox started things off early, putting up a 3-spot in the 2nd, starting with a Kevin Youkilis double in the gap, followed by an opposite field single for Big Papi. Cody Ross grounded towards second, but a throwing error by Gordon Beckham kept everyone safe, and saw the first run come home. A groundout by Carl Crawford saw Big Papi score, and a Mike Aviles double with 2 outs scored Ross to start the offense.

In the 4th, Alex Rios took a hanging curve deep into the Fenway Night over the Monster to get the White Sox on the board.

In the 5th, the Red Sox got 2 more, starting with an infield single by Mike Aviles, followed by two fly outs by Ellsbury and Pedroia, but Adrian Gonzalez launched a Chris Sale slider just into the farthest part of the Red Sox bullpen for a 5-1 lead.

Then, the charge began by the White Sox. The 6th inning saw De Aza doubled, and Rios struck out, Paul Konerko took one of his 5 hits off the Monster to cut the lead to 5-2. Then, when Beckett left the game and Alfredo Aceves came in, things unraveled. Two doubles, a walk, one K, and then another Konerko hit scoring two drove Aceves from the game. Morales came in to face the lefty Adam Dunn, and took a base hit to right field to tie the game at 5. Only a 3-6-1 DP by Pierzynski got the Sox out of the jam.

The bottom of the 8th got the Sox back up 6-5, as Dustin Pedroia brought "The Laser Show", and hit a leadoff HR to straight away center.

With Andrew Bailey apparently not ready yet, the Sox went to Mark Melancon in the 9th. He got Brent Morel to ground out back to him. Bailey then came in to get the save, got one out, then proceeded to blow it with a Dayan Viciedo homer to deep center field.

This game is going to extra! (As does all my games with my buddy...third one in a row!!)

The game gets to the 12th, where Carl Crawford drops a successful drag bunt down for a hit, then steals 2nd, allowing Ryan Lavarnway to sacrifice him over to 3rd with one out. Mike Aviles grounder back to short brought a play at the plate, but Escobar (who PH'd for Ramirez earlier) saw his throw sail high over Pierzynski, but would not have gotten there in time, as the speedy Crawford sent the 37,402 Fenway Faithful home happy with the Opening Day Victory.

W: S. Atchison (1-0)
L: M. Thornton (0-1)

Re: The Official DBFL theshownation.com Web Site

Unreal! I spent 30 minutes recapping all the games last night, was toggling between this site and the shownation site and accidentally hit a stupid link on the stupid toolbar right above the shownation tab and it opened another web site and when I hit the back arrow everything was gone!

Let me try this again........

Some good action last night.

The rough start for the Padres continues as they dropped two games last night and fall to 0-6. The good news is that FOUR of their losses have been by one run and another by two runs. It appears that they are a big bat or two from turning these one run losses into victories.

In their first game Hafner's 2R shot was all the Indians would need as they hold on to beat the Padres 2-1:

Who says that spring training doesn't matter? In the Padres second game the ran into the red hot Rockies and fall 5-3:

And now the shownation site is down! WTF! I hope I have some time later on to redo the recaps!

I got off to a early 3-1 lead, but my starting pitching is terrible. I believe every game I have more hits than my opponents just can't seem to score or giving up monster shots. When is free agency? LOL Roy Oswalt needs to come to San Diego, we have cookies!

Well theshownation site is up now so I will do some more recaps...

Rockies 5-3 win over the Padres:
https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18753338

The key play for the Rockies win appeared to be a hit and run that thwarted a inning ending double play. That extended the inning and allowed the Rockies to score the decisive runs. Not many strikeouts on either side. Looked to be a great "pitch to contact" type of game.

The Jays and Rangers played a pair last night. The first game the Jays blew out the Rangers with an 8 run explosion in the 5th capped off by a Rasmus Grand Slam!
https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18744414

The Rangers rebound nicely and take game 2.
https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18750948
The Rangers pull this one out with some small ball and a strong performance by Yu Darvish who pitched well in his MLB debut with 7 strong innings, giving up one in 7 innings with 7 Ks.

Re: The Official DBFL theshownation.com Web Site

Errors really hurt me. My infield couldn't pull off the easy plays. Pretty sure everytime I got an error the next at bat he would knock in a run...

Rangers walk over Dbacks TWICE!

Wow Rangers defeat Dbacks on a walk off TWICE!

Looks like there were two great games with the same results:

https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18880506

Dbacks bullpen have a meltdown as the Rangers scored 7 or their 8 runs in the last 3 innings.

In the other game:
https://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/18880506

Rangers trailed 3-2 and with two outs and one on Napoli jacks a 2 run shot off of closer Putz for the walk off.
