This whole DD system is done very poorly

First of all I love The Show series. I buy it every year. I think it's great, for the most part. But the whole ranking and rating setup of Diamond Dynasty is beyond horrible and it must somehow be fixed before it the mode itself becomes useless.

This has nothing to do with the menus or not being able to understand training and buying cards and all that stuff. I'm still learning that stuff but at least it can be figured out over time on ones own and makes sense once you get again.

This has to do purely with rankings and ratings. I don't say this to brag (ok maybe a little bit), but I'm awesome at The Show. I've been playing basically only DD since 12 came out because I wanted to do something new until the real season starts and the rosters are set.

So far I've only played online games against people and right now I am 16-0. However, about 8 of those games my opponent has quit which means that all I get is a meaningless win. No coins. No bump in player rating. No bump in team rating. And my guys lose a contract game. Because that makes sense. And I dont even blame the people who quit. It's not fun to be losing a game 5-0 in the 6th inning when most teams have poor offense because of low ratings. So people quit. There should be a concede defeat/offer mercy option like there is in the Madden/NCAA series after 5 innings just so people dont have to waste percious time. A game of The Show online can take anywhere from 40-60 minutes and people losing should have an option to concede defeat instead of waste more time on a game.

My next problem is with the Team Rating system. You start out with a 0. After my first win I bumped up to 162. Cool. Then something around 300, then 450, and it was looking fine. I noticed when you get to 500 you get moved to the Season Series Division. I did that and noticed that when you get to 1500 you get moved to the Division Series division. Cool. Or so I thought. After I got up to around 800 I have noticed winning games gets you basically nothing. Out of my last 6 games I have had 3 quits (obviously this means 0 points) and my 3 completed wins netted me 6 points, then 3 points, and then 1 point for the last one. The game where I received 3 points was against a guy who had 750 points so its not like I was beating up on people with 0 points and that is why I got nothing. If this trend continues then it seems I only have to win another 1400 games or so and I can make it into the Division Series. Man, if I could just find enough time to play about 25,000 games I just might be able to make it to the World Series division.

Maybe it is because I only play against people? Do you get more points for games against the CPU? But that wouldnt make sense. I read that they claim to use an EPO system that most games use. I'm guessing what they were going for was something similar to the NHL series. Except the NHL series rankings make sense. I dont care about being the best or the need to be the highest ranked player but I've noticed that the 15 or so teams above me in the rankings have nowhere near the record of mine and one of them is actually under .500. But none of those people have over 900 points which leads me to believe it is near impossible to move all the way up to the World Series Division.

I understand at this point I am probably just rambling on about a mode which I thought at first I would really love but has now turned into something I just plan to waste time with till April, but I dont understand this ranking system at all. I googled around and tried to find some form of understanding about it all but came up empty. If anyone has any clue on how the whole thing works please let me know. I just had to get this off my mind because I just spent 3 hours playing through quits and 3 point game for small amounts of coins and it upset. And now I will go watch The Steve Wilkos show.

I agree there are some flaws to DD. I haven't gotten so far to figure out the ranking system. However I like this concept and I think they are actively trying to develop it.

This is like buying first generation Hardware. It's gonna have bugs and problems. Hopefully they will get feedback and fix bigs and imbalances within this version.

If they leave it as is and not optimize it, that would be where the real problem lies.

You have very valid points, and I expect many of them will be looked at going into the future. There needs to be a punishment for quitting, even if you are losing 5-0 during the game. Many people have suggested that 100% of the pot goes to the team that wins if there is a disconnect, and I agree with that. I also feel that for future generations of the game, the league system needs to be revamped. Maybe have public leagues to try out on for ranking up, and perhaps private leagues to where friends can play around with their dynasties.

Yeah I am 25-1 and only have a rating of like 813. I notice it goes up roughly 2 points a win. You have to get 1500 points to be promoted into the division series, so from the Pace I am one it will take me another 300+ wins to make it into the DS. It should be more based on your winning pct and your rating. For instance, your rating maybe goes a pct of points based on your opponents ratings and vice versa.

I really don't understand the standings yet either. Is there a point, besides it being a really cool leaderboard feature? I'd like to see some type of playoffs for the top tier teams or something.

Re: This whole DD system is done very poorly

I dont really understand the ranking system myself, but it seems to me like i dont even get points anymore for beating low level players. I'm at 849 points (Richmond Hill Rhinos) and I only seem to get points when facing someone 400+ or so...I got about 12 points the last time i beat someone in the 800s, so I think it depends on the level of your opponent. This would be fine if the player matching was better, but im constantly playing people with sub 200 rating points and getting nothing out of it (especially if they quit on me late in the game).

I wish SCEA would explain how the whole system works. Also, if you look at the rankings, it looks like the top 2000 ranking players or so all have 1500 points, which doesnt seem to make sense to me.

I think that is lifetime and it is a glitch. It shows everyone at 1500, but that is obviously not true. Current standings shows the highest guy around 950.
I still don't quite all-star voting, hall of fame, etc. Is there actually going to be an all-star game or is it just another leaderboard feature? And for HOF is it only based on 1 5 game season or their career? I have some players that should definitely make the HOF, but we will see.
