Development/Training

Does anyone use this in legacy or just keep in on balanced for their players? I noticed that you get 2 drills per week and you can change each players training focus for the week but i've just been keeping everyone on balance and not worrying about it.

Does anyone use this and does it make a big difference?

Re: Development/Training

I usually set the schedule up so I have the entire team training the same way. Which may not be the smartest route but I just want to save time without completely abandoning the feature. I pretty much always set it up where they practice shooting for the first half of the season then alternate between consistency/awareness and their defense for the remaining weeks.

As for the training drills, I might do one or two every few weeks but I don't use them too much. I get slight improvements in individual player ratings but nothing from my experience indicates that if I did every drill and made custom training regimens for each player I could suddenly turn a bad team into a good one.

Maybe other people have had better results but I just haven't seen any significant jumps in player ratings because of them. Which like I said could be because I don't use them much and set a team training plan as opposed to trying to pin point each players' areas that need improving and focus on that.

However, even with my lazy man's approach I do see +1 in overall after seasons for most of my players. Which may not seem like a lot but could make a difference in your team's success if you have players on the cusp of reaching a 70,80,or 90 overall. Someone being a 70 as apposed to a 69 helps just a tiny bit, especially when you're trying to edge out other bubble teams who have similar records to you. If you can have that 1 extra point in your team's overall it can buy you a tourney bid.

And if someone posts that they turned Bradley in to a powerhouse by just doing the drills and putting effort into their player's training schedules I'm going to look like a jackass.

Re: Development/Training

I usually just set the teams drills for the following week after I finish a game. I see it as the coach finishing up things before he leaves the office. I don't think that 1 point makes that much of a difference but I did relies that players have off nights. So I see training as a way to keep them from having those especially in big game situations.
