Just bought this game and...

I really love it. The franchise mode is soooo deep. You can really get into it.

Is there any place where I can find a good strategy guide and how-to's?

Thanks,
ZB

Re: Just bought this game and...

I can throw some recruiting tips in because the gameplay stuff will come.

Here are some guidelines

World and JC 5 stars are usually not as good as highschool 5 stars or 4 stars however do not ignore them. Just dont assume you cant find a steal. I recruited a world player from Venezuela because I liked his combination of size and ball handling. He ended up being a big time player for me. You will only get to see a few of the world players skills but if they have a couple exceptional skills you should consider them. With JC players it more the opposite you have to take a look at their overall skills because they tend to be more one dimensional. So if you see a world player with two As in key ratings its usally more valuable tham a JC player with two As. Its also a good idea to see who else is recruiting them and look at the JC players asap. After a few seasons of shoddy JC crop I ignored a player I should have jumped on from the beginning and I ended up narrowly losing him to Oregon where he was an 80+ from the start and went on to the league.

With highschool players you have to follow some simple rules.

If a player has under a 68% interest you cant early sign them and you usally cant sign them in the first week of post season recruiting. That doesn't mean you should ignore them. I have seen some legit 3 star players and 4 star players make it past the first week so if no one else is offering them a scholarship and no other team has high percentages you can stay on them

If you play well with a lower ranked player in the ABL dont forget about them. Usually thats a very good sign that you will play well with them if sign them. My best 3 star players are usually players that I played well with in the ABL. Centers can be an exception. If you find a three star player thats 7'0+ and can block and rebound there is a good chance that they are going to be a steal. The CPU under values size so you should have good talent at Center.

Make your phone calls and unless its a player that nobody wants make all your home visits before your game visits because you will lose a home visit after one or two game visits. You sway players more with home visits so use them first. I lost a 5 star player with game like Grant Hill's because I didn't know that. Also one miss phone call can matter when the player has a 99% and its the first day of early signing or post season recruiting. A big time school might leap frog you and take that player when had you made one extra call they would be yours.

Early singings are usually the best way to get 4 and 5 star players. Early on you want to know who isn't being offered a scholarship. A lot of times there is so much guard talent that big time top 25 players are not offered scholarships until after the early singing period. If you have a 70+ interest on a player like that, it can be the best way to grab a big time player.

Look at what players want. Your only chance of leap frogging a team with more interest is if you have what they want and you wont leap frog them by that much so dont waste time going after a player that has a high interest and a scholarship from another school unless you are right next to them and you have the time and visits to move up.

Re: Just bought this game and...

Awesome. Thanks for the information.

So, if I am a bottom tier school (my first school in Legacy), what are the highest levels of stars I can reach in a recruit? For example, can I successfully recruit a 5-star player or should I just aim for 3-star and below players?

Also, should I do a recruiting assignment each week?

Finally, does training, practice and progression, etc... really make a difference?

Thanks again.

I actually got back into playing this game, and I have fallen in love with it again! I wish 2ksports would've continued with this franchise, such a shame, such a shame!

Back to your question though. Since it is your first team in your legacy (and I know it's usually some small school at a mid major conference), it's best to not waste time on 5 star recruits. Especially if you get more info out of them that states they prefer playing for a big program.

Your best bet is to look for recruits that are locally within your school's backyard. You can always broaden the search by going with how interested players are in your program, but make sure you look into the feedback you're getting from these recruits!

If you see them responding by saying they want playing time, and prefer staying close to home than you should have a great chance at signing them!

Also pay attention to how they perform during the ABL season. That IMO is something that a lot of us overlook, you don't necessarily have to personally play the game just sim through it and look at their stats. It usually says a lot about their in game ability!

Last but not least. Those training drills are nice when you're at a small program like the one you're currently at to use, but once you get into a big time program I honestly don't think it's that much of a big deal, especially since you're going to be reeling in more talented players with more potential.
