Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

I just played one of my greatest legacy games ever. As some of you read you may as heard I was in my 13th year of my legacy, so I am pretty established as the Head Coach of the Connecticut Huskies and well staffed with assistants. I digress; this game was in the NCAA tourney 3rd round against #5 Georgetown. It was already a challenge because I changed the injury frequency slider to 85 so my leading scorer PG #33 Johann Grkovic was out with a high ankle sprain. I was down by 15 points in the 2nd half with 9 min to go. Up to that point we shot 1-10 from the arc.
My bench players made stop after stop with the 1-2-1-1 zone press racking up a total of 20 steals. My 6th man #0 C Gerald Surov took on the role of "cheerleader" as he scored a whopping 27 points with 7 steals. With 44 sec. to go and down by 5 we had no choice but too foul and make them earn their points from the stripe. They missed the first and made the next. As they sit waiting in a 2-3 defense to shut down my inside game, I pushed the ball up and feeding it to Gerald for a quick post up. All it took was a quick up and under to score a much need two points. In the press, we managed to get the steal only to miss the shot and give it up the ball. Guarding all passing lanes and getting the ball back to make it a 2 point game we received another steal. We had passed the ball 3 times trying to get a lane but my SG #23 Quentin McElroy Drove to the basket weaving between 2 Defenders to sink the layup to tie the game with 15.3 sec to go. We got back to man up and guard all lanes only to give up a open shot to their leading scorer SF Brent Maguire. With 7.4 sec to go the shot went up and with 5.4 seconds we came down with the rebound desperately trying to get a shot but ended up going to overtime.
With 45 sec to go in overtime and with Georgetown scoring a bucket to make it a 1 point game and up by 1 they had to foul to stop the clock to send us to the charity stripe. I switched my five best free throw shooters on the floor to seal the deal with a score being 96-99.
Now on to face #2 West Virginia. With 2 Championships in the last three years and the taste of last years Elite Eight upset, the players, students, and the town of Storr, CT are chanting Dynasty.

Re: Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

Year 1 with a roster set the included Seth Curry for Liberty. He is a 68ovr. They were an option for a closed legacy so I run with them thinking I will just shoot 40 3's a game with him. I have VT on the bill for game # 6 of the season. The game starts bad for me. They jump out to a 15 point lead at half. Curry leads the way with 20 but not much from the rest of the team.
Then in the second my team heats up and plays some D as well. I get some pressure and force some turnovers. Next thing I know we are tied with less then 1 minute to play. They miss a 23 foot jumper and I grab the board and I'm off. Curry spots up and bang a 3 from the wing. Now I'm up by 3 with 20 seconds left. VT pushes the ball and hits a buzzer beater 3 to send the game into over time.
With the step up in D I have some guys in foul trouble and 2 out but VT is just as bad. We matached each other point by point. 2nd overtime here we come. Curry is up to 50 points by now and has 4 fouls. The 2nd overtime would end with Curry fouling out and putting VT on the line to tie the game.
Overtime # 3 without Curry would seal the deal for VT. I lost by 8 but had the most fun playing a game ever.
I did get my revenge the next season and beat VT by 13 and Curry had 45 that game.
The game lasted for like a hour and a half. It made me fall in love with this game. My wife was ok with my new love affair

Re: Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

Just to let you guys know how the tourney went, #5 Marquette got the upset late in the 2ns half and went on a 15 point run with 3 min to go. Lost by 7.

Re: Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

I had one the other day, I run a closed legacy (in my 3rd year with Boise State) made it to the final four only to get smacked by the University of Cincinnati late in the 2nd half (5 mins or less).

What made it realistic was I played a good game and it was close until #5 "Deonta Vaughn" started to rain 3's in on me. It was like a demon was inside that kid. lol

I lost, score was 72 to 92 and didn't feel mad or anything. I simply got out played and I was cool with that. I really like this game because they were a way better team.

BTW Cinncy lost to Gonzaga in the National championship game.

Gonzaga is a powerhouse in my legacy mode...they stock pile incoming studs and keep the ball rolling!

On a side note: I got ranked 16 in recuiting the next season and have a front court of two freshmen (3* PF=73 and 3* C=70) and a backcourt stud (4* Sg=79) In the words of Ice Berg from the Dunkryders..."I'm on my way!"

That game was very hard, I hit a clutch 3 to tie it with a minute left in regulation and got a stop on the other end but couldn't hit the jumper to go ahead by two. First overtime I thought I had it won with 1 minute left but they somehow hit clutch 3's. Second overtime I was the one hitting clutch 3's. Third overtime I got a 3 point lead with a minute left in the game and stopped them from scoring twice (they were lobbing the ball up court to a big man under the basket and I blocked him twice) but missed my shots as well (in hindsight I probably should of just ran down the clock but I wanted to get at least two more points in case I missed the free throws). They fouled me for the last 25 seconds but I kept running around wasting time plus they only had 1 team foul to start so they didn't have enough time to even get me to the free throw line
A quote from my post in a national championship thread. It was the first year of my career legacy and somehow managed to make it to the national championship game with Bethune-Cookman. I was playing against Tennessee and the above is a brief rundown of what happened. It was one of the best games I've ever played.

Re: Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

This game I played last year.
It was season 3 of my legacy. I was Indiana, and after season 1 (2007-2008), I cut every player who left Indiana (or transferred, and all that stuff). So I had a rough season 2, where I would entered the NCAA tournament but lost in 2nd round (first year also in round 2 loss, because Eric Gordon was injured, and DJ had an minor injury)
So in season 3, I had few good players from recruiting and my created player who was and 85 rated Junior.

So the game was sweet 16 vs Maryland. (20 min quarters, top level)
First half I was down by 12 (42-30), I had really trouble with their zone 2-3, and Eric Hayes hit 5 threes in first half.
In second half I was still struggling for the first 10 mins, but then my freshman AA Center got into foul trouble, so I had to put some random Center from Kenya (overall 65), who locked down the paint (2 points, 5 reb, 4 blocks). And I managed to come down to 1, with 40 sec's left. Then my Created player hit an contested mid range shot and Maryland had the chance for the game winning shot.
I played good D but got lost in rotation, and Hayes hit an corner 3 (Maryland up by 2), with 3.2 sec's left. I had no timeouts left, so I threw an pass to my player, he was on the center line, made 1 dribble and scored an really really deep 3 for the win. That was the greatest game I have played, and have at least 6 or 7 saved replays from that game.

Re: Tell us your greatest Legacy game ever!

My first season at Winston Salem St.

In the Sweet 16 with a (32-2) record.

Played a great Syracuse team and managed to hold on after Devendorf scored 14 points in the final 1:30. His only miss was the buzzer beater he shot and rimmed out. I ended up winning 92-89.

Villanova stomped me by 60 the next game.

Funny I was thinking of playing this game again, it's been a while.
In my very first season, playing an Open Legacy with Texas, it was
the championship game against Kansas. I was down at the half, but
rallied strong to take the lead by around 5 points, only to have Kansas
tie it up late. With the ball in the last 30 or so seconds in a tie game,
I ran the clock, took a late shot, but not late enough, as I missed,
Kansas rebounded and TIMEOUT. With around 2.5 seconds, Kansas
inbounded a near perfect pass to the basket, the ball rolled over the
rim and...

OUT... went into overtime where my Longhorns simply outrun a
gassed Kansas squad and we won the title. This goes down as one
of my favourite sports titles of all time.
