Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just started up a new Closed legacy with UC Davis. I had 4 people from the OS boards who follow my legacies create players along with myself to create a Fab 5 of Freshman starters replacing 5 current players on UC Davis roster. (We are all 70 Overall players but have certain attributes we are strong in and some we are not)

We started out the year with 2 huge wins over Cal-State Bakersfield and Sacremento State but losing to Mississippi State in the Opening Round of the Orange County Shootout. We just beat Southern Illinois in Round 2 and play USC in the Consolation Bracket next. The team is avg over 90 ppg. Our SG Adam Rizzo is currently 8th in the NCAA in scoring at 23.8 PPG, our PG Michael James is 3rd in Assists at 7.9 APG and our Center Wilt Chamberlain JR is avg a double double and is 3rd in the Nation in RPG with 14.8

If anyone wants to follow its in the Dynasty Thread called "Fab 5" Coach Dodge.

Anyone who wants to create a prospect that I will put in next year's recruiting class can do so my PM me all the info. Height/Pos/Name/City/State/and 3 positives attributes and 3 negatives attributes. (Example good shooter, offense awareness, Passing, Bad-Defense,Rebound,Block shot)

Their defense was smothering me, and their slow tempo was throwing me out of my plan. They led at the half 39-34, then pulled away in the 2nd half and went up by 15 w/ 8 mins left. I got so frustrated I benched all of my starters and put in the bench. And to my surprise - it worked. We start chipping into the lead, get into our rhythm. The 15 point lead shrinks to 10 w/ 7 mins to go. Then I cut it to 3 w/ 5 mins to play.

I put my starters back in, and we have a 10-0 run to go up by 6. But then they hit 2 jumpers to pull within 2 w/ less than a minute to play. They foul and I hit 1 of 2 FTs to go up 3. They come down and hit another jumper to shrink it to 1 w/ 24 seconds left. I make both free throws. They come down, missed jumper that would've cut it to 1, and we make our free throws to close it out 75-68. From down 15 w/ 8 mins to play. Great comeback.

Now I face #13 Kent St, who upset Stanford in R1.
Another day, another comeback for the North Texas Mean Green.

NCAA 2nd Round #5 North Texas vs #13 Kent State

Things started off badly - sloppy execution, missing easy baskets, turnovers, allowing 2nd chance points. Before we knew it we were down 38-30 at the half. The Kent St. lead grew to 12 early in the 2nd half. But that's when stars step up; and my star player senior SF Kashien Adams, came through big tonight. He scored 15 points in the 2nd half including 2 key late 3s as he helped spur our comeback. We outscored the Flashes 42-29 in 2nd half to win 72-63 and book our ticket to the Sweet 16 for the 2nd Consecutive Year.

Kashien Adams - 29 pts, 6 rebs, 11-18 FG, 2-2 3pt, 5-6 FT
Now averaging 29 points, 7 rebs in the last 3 games, the 3 biggest games of our season.

He's viewed as a projected 2nd round pick, but with performances like this in the NCAA Tournament, his stock is quickly rising.

Next up: #1 seed and Big East regular season champs Marquette, who beat #9 Washington St. 78-63.

Sweet 16: #1 Marquette vs #5 North Texas
It was a close game in the first portion of the 1st half, until sloppy play and horrible rebounding cost us. They were getting any and everything on the boards, the boxing out was atrocious, 23 offensive rebounds for the game for Marquette. They went up 40-30 at the half and never looked back. The 10 pt lead quickly grew to 16, and UNT had no comeback in this time. Marquette wins 89-66 to advance to the Elite 8 and snap UNT's 19 game win streak.

Key stats: REB: MU 45, UNT 23. I don't think I've ever seen one of my teams rebound worse than that. Embarrasing.
FG pct: MU 38-70 (.543) UNT 26-61 (.426)
Kashien Adams - 11 pts, 4-15 FG, 0-4 3pt. Bad way to go out for the senior.

This was probably the worse game we've played since the loss at Troy, maybe even worse than that. If we even had an average rebounding game, we would have had a shot, but the Marquette offensive rebounding killed us.

So we finish the season 28-7, the 2nd largest win total of my career. Career record now stands at 123-45, w/ 3 Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite 8 appearance last year. For the 2nd straight year, Darrin Horn of WKU edges me out for Sun Belt Coach of the Year. But my star recruit did win Freshman of the Year, which is pretty good.

BTW, the Final Four went like this:

#6 Louisville d. #1 Marquette 77-61
#3 Florida St d. #5 Texas 90-77

Nat'l Championship

#3 FSU d. #6 Louisville 91-81 to win National Championship

2nd straight National Title for ACC

Yay for rebuilding seasons... not.
Well, I ended up going 25-9 (11-3), tied for 1st in the WCC, and won the conference tournament to get a 12 seed in the NCAAs with a pretty young team. I gave 5 seed Miami (FL) a tough game, but they pulled it out 83-79 to end my season.

I filled my only scholarship during the in-season signing period when I landed a 4* center... 6'10 232 pounds, he is the #72 ovr player in the nation and averaged 12 pts, 11 boards, and 3 blks in the ABL.

But, in the coaching caroseul (sp), Jim Calhoun retired at UConn. I was the #1 candidate, and I thought long and hard about taking the job. UConn's a premier program in a premier conference, but it was a tough decision to leave behind my boys at Gonzaga. Finally, I decided to take the job... Calhoun left me some nice toys, including a 6-8 250 pound senior-to-be SF who has a great 3, as well as only losing 2 seniors off of his squad. He also signed the nation's #2 overall player, a 7 foot C who I tried to lure to Gonzaga but ultimately failed.

So now, I'm the head coach at UConn... oye the Big East is a dominant conference and I'm going right into the thick of it next year.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Well I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd give you guys an update. Here's my year by year records:

2007-08 Elon 18-12 First Round NCAA
2008-09 Elon 16-13 Nothing
2009-10 Elon 24-13 NIT
2010-11 Elon 23-13 Second Round NCAA
2011-12 Elon 25-13 Sweet Sixteen
2012-13 Elon 37-3 Final Four

At this point I was getting tired of Elon. I had said I wouldn't leave until Maryland offered but I wanted a change of scenery. I took the job at Siena with 4 excellent seniors who were starting.

2013-14 Siena 37-3 NCAA Champions
2014-15 Siena 24-10 Second Round NCAA
2015-16 Siena 24-12 Sweet Sixteen
2016-17 Siena 38-1 NCAA Champions
2017-18 Siena 9-0

I started strong and won the Championship my first season but then my seniors graduated and left me with young players. I had a couple of years where I didn't really stand out but then I won the Championship again. My Career record is 274-93 with 2 Champs. Gary Williams retired at Maryland in 2015 but the WKU coach took over because he was first on their list. I had a chance to go to UNC after my second Championship but I didn't take it. This season I have 9 scholarships which is way too much.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

My career at Toledo:

23 wins, MAC Reg & Tourn. champ, NCAA First Round
19 wins, MAC Tourn. champ, NCAA First Round
25 wins, MAC Reg champ, NCAA Second Round
37 wins, MAC Reg & Tourn. champ, NCAA Champions

I was only hoping to make the Sweet Sixteen in my 4th year, wasn't even ranked in the Top 25. It was a hard fought regular season and conf. tournament, but earned a 5 seed. First round I held off a fiesty Columbia team, then I had to scrap and claw from behind to beat the 4 seed Iowa State. I had accomplished my goal, and facing the #1 overall seed in Syracuse I figured it would be the end, but I some how rolled them by 21. Then I jumped out to a 22-2 lead on the #2 seed USC in the Elite Eight and never looked back.

Faced Tennessee in the Final 4 and won by 20 points again. I couldn't figure out how I was facing stiff competition and was winning so easily, after going 15-1 but fighting for every win through the conference. Purdue gave me fits in the championship game but I pulled it out with a 7 point win.

Coach K retired and I was number 1 on Duke's list, and though tempted I opted for more of a challenge and took the job at Ole Miss, who had just 3 SEC wins last season.

My career record in something like 150-71 with 3 seasons at Northern Colorado before Toledo. I had a ton of talent coming back as juniors and seniors at Toledo, hated to leave but it was time for a new challenge...

I'm starting out at Northern Colorado as well. I'm currently in my first season.

I'm 13-6 (10-3). I only had 5 pre-conference games which was a screw up on my scheduling lol. But I'm really liking the roster I have and my incoming recruits. I hope to stay here for a few years, get them some NCAA tourney experience, and move on to bigger and better things.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

So in my first ever closed legacy I chose Northern Colorado (Big Sky conference). My first season went extremely well, and I had a blast while doing it, which surprised me.

Season 1

16-9 overall
Big Sky regular season champions
Big Sky conference tournament champions
#13 seed in the NCAA tournament, lost to #4 Purdue in the first round.

I scheduled more non-conference games this season so my win column will hopefully be around the 20's.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Dude...I was playing McNeese St. yesterday afternoon after I did some yard work. I trailed basically the whole game and fought back to tie it 66-66 with about 15 seconds left. They hurry to my end of the court and play for the last shot. Then, they hit this little "sky hook" with 0.1 seconds left. No $hit...that's what the clock read. AGH!!

I'm on track to match my regular season record from season 1 (22-7), as I am now 18-7 with 4 games to go. I have a 0.5 game lead in the Southland over UTA, and I believe I play them next. Crucial game, to say the least. I'm projected as #13 seed right now in the Bracketology menu.

Update: Absolutely a##-F###ed UTSA last night 82-45. Got bumped up to #23 in the polls at 19-7 and am now projected as a #9 seed. Have a 1 game lead in the conference standings.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Quick question on conceptual thing:

What do you guys do to raise your Coach skills to the point where you're getting offers at high level schools? I'm in my 6th year, 4th at Boise State and I've only gotten 1 point the last two years even though I led my team to the Final Four and Sweet Sixteen and received the conference coach of the year. I've already achieved everything that's plausible (at least, I think) at my station (4 star recruit, high school AA, Mr. BB, entire season w/o unhappy players, etc) and I'm looking to move on to a bigger job.

Am I just being impatient? I'm a B grade overall, and I'm guessing that's too low to be offered Duke or Kansas or whatever, should it come available. Right now, I'm just offered gigs that are less desirable than what I have at Boise St.

Anyway, just a new 2k8 player wondering how the system works. Thanks!
