Thanks. It was easy to win year one because of how good the team was. I don't see it being as easy at was year one again.

Got through my worst season finished at .500 lost first round on NIT.. Had surprise run to elite eight last year with a subpar team, right now 15-2 with a real deep team and got a good class coming next year so we should be good for awhile

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Took over URI in legacy mode and Im 5 seasons in.

never been fired, but based on that performance/security bar found in the coach profiles, Id say Im on the verge of being fired from URI. 5 seasons in and no tourney appearances, all seasons have been sub 500. poor recruiting classes etc.
current season Im 6-12, 1-1 in conference play. I hope to get to .500 and save my job.
On the flip side-losing has never been this fun. every win I get feels like a huge reward.

Loving this game still!!!!!!

That is the rewarding part about this game. When you can have a losing season and still have fun. I hope you keep your job and turn that team around.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just a quick recap of my legacy so far...

2007-08 Morehead St 28-3 (Second Round)
2008-09 Morehead St 26-7 (Second Round)
2009-10 Morehead St 29-6 (Championship Game)
2010-11 Morehead St 20-13 (Sweet 16)
2011-12 UC-Irvine 33-2 (National Champions)
2012-13 UC-Irvine 12-0 (Have beat 4 Top 10 schools already)

I took Morehead State as far as I could of for the 4 seasons I was coach their. The highlight of the school was making it to the National Title game against Louisville, only to come up short in a close defeat. The best school available I thought was UC-Irvine from the Big West. They only had 2 seniors that were going to be gone, with some nice fresh talent awaiting me. I'm glad I took the job as I rolled to National Champs my first year as the AntEaters coach. I hope to lock up a Bigger school after this year, but now getting some 4 * recruits I might want to stick it out for a couple more years as well.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I've been reading about everyones legacies.....keep it up! I will introduce you to my current closed legacy.

I'm in my 12th season [2 at Elon, 5 at Nevada, 3 at Saint Louis, currently in my second year at DePaul]

My career record is 311-70.

I started out with Elon and took them to the tourney and lost in the first round 2 years in a row.

After that I took the job at Nevada who had a few 4 star and 3 star recruits coming in with great potential. I had 2 awesome SF who could really shoot it from 3 as well as take their man to the basket. Rashaun Vaughn and Fendi Lynch took us to the Sweet Sixteen in my first year with Nevada and to the Elite Eight in the third year there. They ended their career losing in the second round of the big dance to our rivals, UNLV [who stole a lot of my recruits, by the way]. I stayed one more season at Nevada and had a nice 5 star freshman who took us to the Final Four where we lost to Maryland, the eventual championship team.

I had an opportunity to play in better conferences during the coaching carousel after our Final Four appearance. I turned down the Georgia Tech and Miami jobs and decided to go to Saint Louis. I had an absolute blast playing with Saint Louis. Rick Majerus retired and had a couple of Elite Eight runs with this program in my game.

In my first year I had a 4 star point guard Jonathan O'Dell, a senior, who was the leader of our team and set the tone with his defense and his playmaking ability. I had 4 future NBA players. Jonathan O'Dell was a senior and left for the draft after year 1. The other 3 future NBAers were Paul Dumblauski a 6'10" PF who came off the bench and could shoot the 3, Michael Moreno, an athletic 6'8" PF who was a great rebounder and finisher around the rim with a decent mid range jumpshot, and Major Curry, a 7 footer who patrolled the paint and was unique on offense because of his ability to pass out of the high post. We made it to the Final Game in my first year with this squad and we lost......to Maryland! The next season we had to play PG by committee and were actually still finding ways to win, in fact we went undefeated and lost in the Sweet Sixteen to Louisville, ending our season at 36-1. I stayed one more season and lost in the Sweet Sixteen yet again. A lot of my good players had graduated and we were led by Phillip Cammon, a 6'2 SG who basically did nothing more than shoot threes.

Now, I am at DePaul, which was the team I wanted to coach from the start. I had an opportunity to go there after my second year at Saint Louis but they were terrible and had a lot of young players. In our first season we were a 2 seed in the Big Dance, but we lost in the second round to Arizona. We finished that season at 28-7.

Currently we are 5-0 with a lot of freshman and sophomore. We probably wont do as well as we did last season; we had 2 really good seniors who hit big shots and played consistently. I was able to get a 5 star recruit to come to DePaul for my second year and he is really shining. Bronsen Platt, a 6'8 PF is actually having to play SF because of our lack of depth at that position. His training is strictly ball handling and passing.

The Big East is pretty tough; last season the final game was Louisville over West Virginia. It's going to be a challenge though and I'll likely stay at DePaul for a while. After I win a championship or 2, I'm going to rebuild a mid major school in North Carolina....most likely Davidson.

Just had the best week ever. Finishing out two tourneys caused me to play five games in a week. Beat #18 USC, #25 Maryland, #7 Kentucky, #12 Minnesota, #5 Oregon.

Any question as to why were the #1 team?

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Hey all,

Posted a while ago about my Legacy with Norfolk State. Here's a quick update.

Well it's been a fairly successful first season at Norfolk St for first year head coach Drew Barker. The team is currently 17-9 with one game to play in the regular season against NC A&T. Bracketology currently has the Spartans with a 16 seed facing D Rose and Memphis in Round 1.

On the floor the Spartans are lead by senior SG Tony Murphy who has exploded for 36 and 40 points in two of the last three games. He has been on fire from three in the wins. In the loss, however, he was ice cold from distance and the team fell apart without his contribution. Live by the three, die by the three.

The only other reliable scoring option is our big C Joseph Dorsett-Jeffries. The sophomore stands 6'11", weighs in at a whopping 300 lbs and is a beast down low. When he is on his game and T Murph is raining 3's this team is nearly unbeatable in conference. However, when they are on the bench or having bad games it can get ugly for the Spartans in a hurry.

With a projected #1 seed in the MEAC Tournament the Spartans should be able to go dancing but that will fall on the shoulders of T Murph and JDJ.

Stay tuned!

New Kansas Open Legacy

I restarted my open legacy after picking up a used copy of NBA 2k8. I wanted to start an association in NBA 2k8 and keep track of draft classes so I can have legit draft classes year after year. Using the latest rosters, I simmed about 4 seasons (playing the NCAA tourney games) just to get most of the real players out of the NCAA (the good players are archived in the draft classes I saved).

Simming 4 seasons also allowed me to get more experienced with recruiting, which I truly believe I've mastered, at least for my particular school, if you look at what I've been able to do recruiting-wise. You guys can email me if you want tips on recruiting. In the last year I simmed, I had to let 3 HSAA with KU top on their list, go due to lack of scholarships.

At any rate, this season, season 5, is where I have finally begun to play my new open legacy with players that I've recruited and signed myself. This will also be a parallel experience with an association in NBA 2k8 in order to see what players actually turned out to be good, bad, or great in the pros. Here we are so far.

Roster Legend:
Black Text: Real Players still left (likely red-shirted for one season)

Blue Text: Walk-Ons

Current Roster (2011-2012 Season: 5 seasons in (simmed 4)

1. Kendrick Dennis SO 7'0" 3* (Freshman-All-Conference, HS-Senior #228, Undrafted) OVR:78
2. Marko Clarke JR 7'6"2* (Undrafted) OVR:60

My lineup:
PG Anthony Shazier JR OVR:88
SG Marcus Bradford FR OVR:90
SF Ben McClemore SR OVR:88
PF Ralph O'Bryant SO OVR:81
C Kendrick Dennis SO OVR:78

Bench:
PG Doug Stevanovic JR OVR:83
SG Emanuel Worthy SO OVR:87
SF Wilbur Reid SR OVR:84
PF Harvey Norris FR OVR:77
C Marko Clarke JR OVR:60

First thing you'll notice looking at my roster is I got a ton of good SG. I'm not quite sure why my recruiting ended up the way it did, but good SG were always wiling to commit to my school year after year. And when a HSAA is knocking on your door, you let him in even if you are already stacked at the position. I was surprised to nail another #1 recruit after just signing one 2 years prior. He was a 6'5" PG named Julian Thomas, who was Freshman of the Year as a freshman, but during his So. year he led us into the deepest tournament run of the legacy so far by getting us to the Final Four game against Boston College, which we unfortunately lost in a close, down to the wire bout. Maryland won the title that year (last year) and Julian Thomas left for the pros after that. Anyways, I'm hoping my new #1 recruit will lead us to a championship this year. I get the idea that some of those good players on my team that aren't Sr won't be there next season...

Aside from that, look at my bench. It's so deep! It kind of reminds me of my first legacy ever playing as UNC. I had to play a game against Duke and I paused the game one time to look at the box scores. I found that Duke had 5 bench players in the 80s. No wonder I was losing by 25. lol

Current Record for 2011-2012 Season: (7-0) Rank #4
vs. Prairie View W 85-43 (Season Opener Blowout. No one had great stats, but everyone did decent. Points were distributed across the board. Still figuring out how to play ball with one another, but a blowout did wonders for team chemistry.)

at Creighton
W 70-55 (Bradford 28pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl: Opener for the Paradise Jam tourney. Win wasn't easy, but our shots were falling.)

at Marquette
W 73-67 (Bradford 21pts, 7 reb: Rd 2 of the tourney. Marquette has an HSAA Mr.BB Senior named Sterling Byrd that was tearing it up from behind the arc. The guy had 5 3-pointers, but we got the win.)

vs Butler W 76-55 (Clarke 19pts 14reb: Final Rd. of the tourney. Recently discovered reserved B-I-G (yes, literally) on my roster explodes, but I think most of it had to do with his height. :P)

vs ND State
W 78-22 (Clarke 14 Pts, 15 Reb: lol at the score The game where I discovered beforehand the 7'2" bench warmer center I recurited for size was 7'6" now and put him in the game for the second time. ND State had an extremely bad shooting night, and it didn't help that Clarke prevented them from getting second chance buckets as he totally locked down the paint on the defensive end.)

vs #14 Washington State
W 63-62 (Bradford 36pts 7reb: I thought the only reason you'd have Washington state as a 14 seed in the country would be because they struck gold with recruiting. I discovered that though that wasn't quite the case as they did nail a 5* recruit who tore it up with 20pts, it was their heart that made them so tough to beat. They had the last shot of the game with a makeable contested 3-point shot that didn't fall their way. Bradford was on fire. The funnest game of the season so far.)

vs Southern
W 57-55 (Bradford 26pts 4reb 5stl 3ast: Man, this was the toughest game I've had thus far, yet it was the most realistic basketball game I've had so far in this legacy. Shots weren't falling for us (beside Bradford, of course) and Southern was hot most of the game. A late game steal and bucket got us the victory. What made it more realistic for me was players taking time to set up their offense instead of chugging up fast break 3-point shots like I've seen in some games. I really started feeling confident given the blowout we had against ND State, but we are having a lot of close games lately against non-power conference teams. Contrary to that, we are beating good teams like Butler and Marquette by decent margins. That's something to be a little worried about, at least as far as a possible upset is concerned.)

To be continued...
