1998-2002 Classics (360)

I posted this on the main forum a few weeks ago, but realized it's more appropriate for the rosters thread:

I have a 2K8 roster (360 version) that includes 22 custom teams from the years spanning 1998 to 2002. It includes completed rosters for all the in-game classic teams during that period (2000 MSU, Florida, Iowa St, 1999 Duke, etc.) as well as the custom teams below:

Big 10
Ohio St '99 (Final 4; Scoonie Penn & Michael Redd, etc.)
Wisconsin '00 (Final 4; Kowske, Bryant, Kelly, et al)
Indiana '02 (Final 4; Jared Jeffries & Tom Coverdale, etc.)
MSU '01 (Final 4; Zach Randolph & Jason Richardson, etc.)
Purdue '00 (Elite 8; Brian Cardinal & Jaraan Cornell, etc.)
Penn St '01 (Sweet 16; Cripin, Ivory & Cline-Heard, etc.)
Illinois '02 (Frank Williams, Cory Bradford, Brian Cook, etc.)
Minnesota '98 (Eric Harris, Quincy Lewis, etc.)
Michigan '03 (Horton, Blanchard, Robinson, etc.)
Northwestern '99 (Evan Eschmeyer & supporting cast)
Iowa '99 (Dean Oliver, JR Koch, Jess Settles, etc.)

Other Conferences
Cincinatti '00 (Kenyon Martin, Pete Mickeal, Logan, Satterfield, etc.)
Temple '00 (Pepe Sanchez, Lynn Greer, Kevin Lyde, Quincy Wadley)
Texas '00 (Chris Mihm, Ivan Wagner, Gabe Muoneke, etc.)
Syracuse '00 (Etan Thomas, Jason Hart, etc.)
UCLA '01 (Watson, Kapono, Gadzuric, etc.)
Utah '98 (Final Four; Andre Miller, Michael Doleac, etc.)
DePaul '00 (Quentin Richardson, etc.)
Gonzaqa '01 (Dan Dickau, Casey Calvary, Blake Stepp, etc.)
Detroit '99 (Rashad Phillips, etc.)
Eastern Michigan '98 (Earl Boykins, Derrick Dial, etc.)
Western Michigan '98 (Saddi Washington, Jason Kimbrough, etc.)

The ratings were done importing actual stats into a modified version of TarHeelsUNC's ratings spreadsheet, and the likenesses of the notable players should be pretty accurate (based on photos from old media guides, etc.).

I don't plan on expanding this roster any time soon, so it's basically an as-is version. I put these together with the best info I could dig up, but they're certainly not 100% accurate, and the ratings are subjective, so if you see something wrong, notice I missed something, or disagree with a rating, go ahead and fix it!

It's on 2K Share (as a roster), called "Big 10 Teams & more from 98-00" by Gamertag "seryn360"

(Oh, and BTW, 2K Share considered "Dickau" (as in Dan) foul language, so I spelled it "Dichau").

Thanks! Appreciate your work. Will download these as soon as I get the chance. I wasn't a particularly big Big Ten fan during this era so I really couldn't comment to much on ratings and such, but it is just fun to play with more teams.

Re: 1998-2002 Classics (360)

Just as an fyi, I've simmed a few seasons with these teams, mainly to check that they perform as expected. If anything, they may be a little underrated, as in general, the custom teams seem to underperform more than overperform compared to their real-life records. Maybe I need to be a little more generous with my ratings.

I think for the most part, they're pretty close, but if anyone sees anything severely out-of-whack, let me know.

I kinda see it like you do. When I did my rosters it was for a time period I really enjoyed the game, and they were first and foremost for my enjoyment. So when I created all those mid 80's to mid 90's teams I wanted them to have a sorta "boss" element to 'em. Make 'em stronger than any of the current teams so that I would have to play a really good game to win, and kinda feel like I did beat a great team. But they are not terribly overrated or anything. Just enough to challenge me.

I think I'll have to give my 1990 Spartans a try at some of your teams one of these days. I'm feeling a bit of nostalgia for that era.

I believe I have 3 teams of the Big 10 from that era. The Marble/Gamble/Lohaus/Armstrong Hawkeyes. The Mitchell/Stephens/Lewis Boilermakers, and the Bailey/Cheaney/Anderson Hoosier team. And then of course the Illinois teams that is already in the classics. Now I will warn you I did something that again was for my use primarily. Since I never used any of the real old classic teams that came loaded on the game, I re-created those teams as ones I would play with. So it is the Iowa team, but they are wearing the '68 UH Cougar uni's. I didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, now I hardly even notice.

I did notice you used some of the old classic teams--I have your 2K Share roster DL'd, just haven't actually played any games with those teams yet. Using the 'replacement' classic teams won't bother me.

Heck, if someone wanted them to have official team uni's, they could always swap out players via the add & release function.

Looking forward to some classic hoops. Thanks!
