Question about using rosters online..

So if my friends and I grab some of the latest rosters off of 2k share with updated names and some updated player ratings,,,,can we use those online vs. each other?? I know you can use the named ones,,,but what happens when you mess with the player ratings/attributes? Can you still use those online vs. each other?

It's been awhile since I played and can't remember if they allow you to use rosters that have been edited for ratings online.
