2008-2009 Rosters for PS2

Does anyone know if someone going to make 2008-2009 rosters for PS2? I would start one if someone would help.

Re: 2008-2009 Rosters for PS2

Anyone?

Since I'm probably not going to get NBA 2k9 (no OKC is deal killer) and am going to continue dragging my feet on moving to next gen, I'd consider contributing to a project like this.

Problems I see:

1. Creating reasonable ratings for a large number of players. I'm not keen on tackling the research necessary to come up with ratings for all the newcomers. If the next gen guys who are working on their files can share some of their data, that would make this a much more attractive proposition.

2. Getting accurate rosters/rating for the smaller conferences. Doing the big boys (SEC, Big East, etc.) doesn't look like it'd be all that difficult. Information and resources aplenty there.

3. If you edit players on PS2, any changes you make automatically alters their potential ratings, randomly. So if, say, you go in and want to click up a notch on the year/class, that will bring some unwanted changes. Which raises questions, like: Do you want to have to go in and reset the potential for each player in the game? Or just ignore this issue? Or, perhaps, just leave existing players with their 07-08 class if there's no need for further edits?

Anyway, if there are others out there willing to help, I'd give a PS2 roster update a go. Again, it'd be especially nice if it was possible to share/glean any of the edits or creations the next gen guys are already working on. That'd make this much less painful.

The 2k8 PS2 file I have is pretty extensively updated with dkrause's ratings changes from last year. I've also tweaked some of the rosters to reflect transfers, incoming frosh, etc., but they're sort of a mess now. If there's interest, I'll post what I have thus far and see if it's possible to move forward.

I would greatly appreciate that. It would be perfect also for when the NBA draft comes around in that one could simply use the ratings in this game to create the rookies in 2k9.

Re: 2008-2009 Rosters for PS2

I will post the file I'm working on sometime Sunday. It's faaaaaaaar from being ready to play, but as I said above I've started making the adjustments necessary to have it ready for the 08-09 season.

There's a rather substantial amount of work that would be needed to make the file complete, and I still am not 100% committed to trying to push through all the way. But I'll post what I've got so far and see what happens.

Re: 2008-2009 Rosters for PS2

See below for my working 08-09 file, as an attachment.

Couple of notes:

* Players with a "+" at the end of their last name are incoming players for 08-09 that I added (frosh, JUCO, etc.), typically by overwriting departed seniors. The player information for these players is accurate, but their ratings and appearances need to be edited. I've added the majority of incoming players for the ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, and UK+Tenn from the SEC. Basically, those mentioned in this spreadsheet.

* Players with a "?" at the end of their last name are incoming players for 08-09 that were created by whomever did the base of the file (I can't recall), so presumably their information, ratings, and appearances are accurate and will need marginal -- or, perhaps, no -- editing.

* I incorporated as many of dkrause's edits for the 07-08 rosters as I could find. I did not bother to make any changes to departing seniors or early NBA entries from 07-08, since they're obviously going to be wiped off an 08-09 file anyway.

* I have not moved any player's year/class forward from 07-08. Moreover, I've turned all of the players that left for the NBA early into seniors on the file. So, in essence, if you see a senior on the file, there's a high probability that he can be overwritten.

* Some of the incoming redshirts for 07-08 who are eligible this year (eg, K-St's Denis Clemente) need to be edited over or swapped with other players, since you can't make them playable on the current roster. It probably makes sense to swap these players with those who are going to be redshirting 08-09.

* Majority of transfers made and players released where appropriate. Could be some ones that I missed or some errors. If you can't find a transfer or a player you think should be on the file, first check the released player pool.

I'm not planning on doing anything else with the file for a bit, if at all, so if others want to run with this, be my guest. Frankly, I'll be more likely to help out in the future if others jump on board here. I'm not keen on trying to work this through to completion on my own. It's too daunting a task.

Re: 2008-2009 Rosters for PS2

The roster was named for 07-08, originally. (...as opposed to just having the default numbers in the name slots, although I'm not sure I'm getting exactly what you're asking)

What I was asking was did you edit the file from scratch with just the players with numbers as there names or are you editing a roster file that already had names and your just adding on?
