Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter

All indications from all sources are that this is the real deal. On an Auburn board someone said A&M got 9 yes votes from the 12 SEC presidents. 9 was the minimum needed for approval. If not Tuesday, it will be no later than Thursday that this becomes official and A&M is gone. Now time for Notre Dame!

P.S. Thanks for the free cash Aggies!

Don't kid yourself. Notre Dame will not join the Big 12.

Several pages ago, you were slamming A&M left and right for this move, and saying you were worried about what would happen if it went down. And now you're posting smilies and thanking A&M for leaving? Yeah, right....

We in the Big XII will happily take your money as you descend into eventual irrelevance in the SEC, all because your eternal pissing match with UT - or, I'm sorry, "TU" - finally reached such a climax that you decided it was a good idea to drive yourself off a cliff as long as the Longhorns were in the car too. News flash - no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, the University of Texas will ALWAYS be the premier institution - athletic, academic, and otherwise - in the state of Texas. Deal with it. If you want to rip on me for being an ISU fan, do it, I've heard it all a million times, but then we'd all know what you'd really be doing... deflecting the conversation away from what it's really about (A&M).

Also, in light of all of the new facts I could not be less worried about the Big XII. The situation has changed dramatically. We will be fine, worst case scenario is replace A&M with BYU. And that is the worst outcome. Looking forward to a yell leader-less conference!

To quote a certain poster from way back in this thread...

"its time to chuckle at some folks in this thread"

Texas A&M is gone from the Big 12 and will be a member of the SEC shortly.

Look forward to it.

Well, then, if this is true, which it is appearing more and more every hour that it is, who will be the 14th team?

Schadenfreunde much?

The Big XII at one time was THE conference for football and had great basketball and baseball as well. Now, Colorado, Nebraska and perhaps Texas A&M have all gone for greener pastures. The writing is on the wall for the conference, and the teams that have left plus teams like Missouri (whom you could even blame for the whole mess a few years ago) are starting to wonder where they will end up.

Yet all you can say is how wonderful it will be to have Brigham Young? Brigham Young? Come on, that's not even worth a Western Athletic admission at this point. BYU isn't going to bring in the bucks that Texas A&M were bringing, and it's going to be a challenge if BYU brings its entire athletic program. At this point, the Big XII would be just as good to bring in the likes of Southern Methodist...

Notre Dame is not going to the Big XII... I don't know who started that rumor, but why would that university go to a conference that would likely be third on its list? If the money runs out from the BCS and NBC, Notre Dame will be knocking on the Big Ten's door while having it's foot in the Big East's pie, and that's if the money runs out.

Maybe the Big XII can survive with non-marquee teams; I kinda hope it does. I wouldn't want it to see a complete downfall like the Southwestern Conference. I still would like to see the Aggies play the Longhorns every year, and perhaps the Bears and Red Raiders every once in a while, but now it's probably on to better things. Texas A&M is second to Texas in a lot of things (and that's an achievement considering how many great universities Texas has compared to smaller states). Now, the Aggies will have a chance to be first in the Southeastern Conference in a lot of things. I look forward to a possible move to the SEC, and I think the Aggies will actually find themselves competing for football titles in ten years time (which is indicative of how far things have fallen overall in the Big XII). They will also have the chance to do well in other sports as well, including basketball and baseball. Hopefully, both conferences will be better for the experience.

Hopefully.

Not to mention the little fact that Notre Dame goes to Los Angeles every other year at the end of November for their game with USC. Good luck getting either school to agree to move that.

I don't think it's Missouri, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were begging to get in. Two to three years ago, Missouri thought it was more than possible for them to jump ship toward the Big Ten.
