The end of an Era...

I'm gonna miss Mickey chewin' the hell out of a straw & gettin' in the players face. It wasn't official. He really should have retired 2 years ago when he wanted too, but Bobby convinced him to stick around. He hasn't been the same since his son was killed.

He was great in his prime.

Oh. I thought I had heard people making noise about Fisher hiring the next DC next year. I thought it was a foregone conclusion.

It was a foregone conclusion but not "official".

Looking over his career, the award given to the top assistant coach should be renamed after Mickey Andrews. In the totality of a career there has never been a better Coordinator in the history of college football who didn't move on to become a head coach (not that Andrews didn't have the opportunity numerous times).

Re: FSU DC Mickey Andrews Announces Retirement

It's a sad day actually...Mickey to me has been the best D coordinator in CFB for the last 30 years. I loved watching his defenses and looking at those classes (95 and 98 are wow) you can see that it translated at the next level as well. When he and Bobby were at the top of their games, football in Tallahassee was a beautiful thing.

He was Clemson's defensive coordinator from 1977-80 and was an assistant at Florida in 1981-82
