In piles people bite, pinch, most often cleat other players, etc. But how often do you really see a player try to blind another player? I think Blounts overall actions are worse, but that one singular punch vs. gauge looks worse for Spikes IMO.
And by the way to people asking, yes it happens. Especially in fumble piles where people are going for possession of the ball. If you played football you'd know this unless you were a QB or DB or something and weren't in piles on a regular basis.

No, I had no reason to say anything else. I never claimed that people got away with eye gouging all the time, or that players did it all the time. So I really had no reason to reply to your question.

Would you rather get punched in the face or have your eye gouged out?

Truth is it doesnt matter how frequent eye gouging happens or at what level. That doesnt make it any more or less dirty.

Eye gouging is just cheaper and honestly, a sissy move. That's something you'd expect to see in a fight between girls softball teams, along with scratching and hair pulling (not in the sexual way obviously). I mean really I can't even begin to defend Spikes on this one.

Ryan Pugh's chop-blocking is worse than Blount's punch and more on the level of the Spikes eye gouging. He's a serial repeat offender though so he's even worse.:-)[Reply]

First off, that is greatly Exagerated. How are you going to bite someone, are you forgetting that players have been wearing face masks for the past 50 years? And there are so many camera's at games, we would catch stuff like this. Im sure nasty stuff does happen in the Pile, but when you catch someone trying to gouge the eyeball out of another persons head, there tends to be consequences. Personally If I was a Police Chief in that area I would have arrested this dude, Breaking a law on a football field should be no different than in the real world.
