College Football>Who would you rather have as your Quarterback: Christian Ponder vs. Tim Tebow

I dont think there is anything wrong with this question. I dont have any love affair with Tebow. Although between him and Ponder Im taking Tebow. But Florida has more talent than FSU.

They've never brought in a quarterback as big as Tebow

Unlike Florida State, Pete Carroll is in the business of championships.
He would have known that he could have a top 10 team with Booty or Sanchez or win 2 championships with Tebow. I think he'd have gone with Tebow.

The joke is that you are picking a quarterback because of his hypothetical ability to lead you from behind late in the game instead of the quarterback that is a proven winner to begin with. I don't really follow the logic.

In this decade, FSU has signed the following QBs.
Chris Rix
Joe Mauer
Adrian McPherson Wyatt Sexton
Drew Weatherford Xavier Lee Christian Ponder
D'Vo Richardson E.J. Manuel Will Secord
The bold faced players were 5* rated players by one publication or another. Mauer, McPherson, and Lee were all every bit as sought after of recruits as Tim Tebow was. Lets also not forget that Chris Rix and Drew Weatherford were Top 100 rated players and Elite 11 QB's. Of that list Ponder was the second lowest rated player, but clearly the best player of the group.
--------------------------------
The guys who run the Rivals and Scout.com sites for the Texas schools were all high on him, much the same way they were with Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy, two similarly rated QBs to Ponder out of HS (seriously Bradford was the #12 rated Pro Style QB by Rivals and Ponder was the #14 rated one). It was actually a mystery why he was considered a pro style QB given that he rushed for nearly 1000 yards his senior year.
--------------------------------
Do you really, really think that Tim Tebow would have started over Mark Sanchez (a more sought after recruit actually) in USC's pro style offense? As you said he is in the business of winning championships, and if Tebow remained at QB he would have been behind Sanchez on the depth chart. Or, as I said, he would have been used in another role, such as a H-Back or Power Back in their offense.

How is it hypothetical if he has done it on numerous occasions?

Just asking, not trying to get O.T.
You ask that question as if he's never faced legit pass defenses. Of course I would trust him.

Do you know what hypothetical means?
Yep, he's made enough 4th quarter comebacks for FSU to be 4-4.
Considering FSU would be starting a RS-Freshman QB, there is a good chance they'd be 1-7 or even 0-8 without Christian Ponder. North Carolina has one the best defenses in America statistically speaking, run by a defensive guru in Butch Davis, he shredded them to come back from a 24-6 deficit on the road. Again if the defense wasn't god awful, FSU could be sitting at 6-2 right now.
