Re: The grisly demise of Tresselball

This is not a good article at all. First he compares Michigan playing ND to Ohio St. playing USC which is straight up ridiculous. ND has a terrible secondary while USC's is decent. This is especially problematic when Ohio St. has a QB who can't throw the football at all.

I thought the gameplan for USC was decent. Run the football and have Pryor make easy throws to minimize mistakes. Make the frosh QB beat you on the road. Unfortunely that happened.

The gameplan was decent? They scored one touchdown and averaged less than three yards a carry. Easy throws? Pryor completed 44% of his passes and didn't even see that USC blew a coverage on their final drive.

He didn't compare Notre Dame's defense against USC's defense, I don't have any idea how you reached that conclusion. He compared Michigan's coaches making a key adjustment in their running game to Ohio State tipping their plays by running the same thing out of the same formation repeatedly. That has nothing to do with the defenses they were playing.

Not sure how you can call it a bad article. The guy from Smart Football has no dog in the fight, and his writing speaks for itself. Read the archives. He knows what he's talking about.

This sums up all my thoughts perfectly and is why Tressel needs to hire an OC. The Lloyd Carr/Jim Tressel way of football is dead, wake up and smell the spread offense.

Wow great article. And I agree Tressel needs to change his playcalling and play to win the game. USC went for it on 4 4th downs Ohio State zero.

Or god forbid, the pro style USC brand of ball.

Tressel coaches like he is Woody Hayes.

3rd and 14.... Run it up the gut.

Re: The grisly demise of Tresselball

I dont get on 3rd and short plays why he never once did a QB sneak with Pryor. If Barkley can do it over and over again with USC a 6'5 Pryor can do with OSU. Their playcalling seemed so vanilla, I knew what was coming before every play, pretty sure most of the people in the crowd new what was coming, and USC definently knew what was coming.

Our (tOSU's) O-Line is one of the fattest most unathletic in the BCS.

I think their are much worse O-lines in the BCS. OSU's is ok not great not terrible.

I think we could of gotten a yard on at least one of those third and 1's or 4th or 1's.

Re: The grisly demise of Tresselball

I don't have a problem with the playcalling when were behind. But, when we get the lead it's that we're playing not to lose, rather than to win. We had chances to put the game away but Tressel chose not to, too risky for him, I guess.
