The last game of the regular season last year for the MWC was UNLV at San Diego State. It was the 36th conference matchup for the season. San Diego State won that game, for it's first conference win of the season. IF UNLV had won, here is how the standings would have looked:
Utah 8-0
TCU 7-1
BYU 6-2
Air Force 5-3
Colorado State 4-4
UNLV 3-5
New Mexico 2-6
Wyoming 1-7
San Diego State 0-8
Pretty cool. It gets better, though. TCU lost to Utah. BYU lost to Utah and TCU. Air Force lost to Utah, TCU, and BYU. And so on. Each team only lost to teams that finished ahead of them in the standings. Before the SDSU/UNLV game, there were ZERO conference upsets. How often does that happen?
Any statistical gurus want to figure out the probability of it?
