To the people that think every game matters under the current system

People defending the BCS use the argument, "Every game matters". I just want to know how people come to this conclusion.

How do you guys think every game matters when LSU won the national championship after losing two games, including the final game of the year on their home field?

How do you guys think every game matters when Florida lost at home and won the title?

How does every game matter when Utah went undefeated and didn't even get to play for the championship and two teams that lost a game went on to play for a MNC?

How does every game matter when Texas beat OU, finished with one loss, and didn't even get to play for the title?

How does every game matter when Auburn went 13-0 and didn't even get to play for the title?

Every game does matter, but all wins and or losses aren't created equal.

All games in the NFL matter as well. They still take about 1/3 of the league and put them into the playoffs. Adding a limited playoff format would not make the regular season any less meaningful.

There are anomolies, but it does matter. Getting clocked by a weak team will end your season.

I would hate to see a scenario where, say Texas, decides to rest Colt McCoy and many of the starters against A&M because they've already sewn up a tournament spot.

The way it is now is gonads out all season. I like it that way. With 100+ D-I teams, you are never going to make anyone happy anyway. Schedule strength is always way out of balance.

I agree if it was a 4-team playoff and stayed that way. But once you start it, it'll end up being a 32-team playoff and the regular season will be basically a preseason.

It would never get to a 32 game post season, the ADs and university presidents would never let it get that far. With a 4-8 team playoff you won't see teams locking a spot into the tournament and resting starters late in the season because if you lose a game someone will be there to jump you. Especially if you were to add a component into the BCS system that penalizes losses late in the season.

No it doesn't.

In 2004 and 2005, only 24 games mattered each season.

The results of any other game were completely irrelevant.

Yep. Unless you're a school that wasn't very good in 1960.

Losing to North Texas is not the same as losing to USC

Or a team that plays a schedule that couldn't beat good Texas or Florida high school teams.

Going through an SEC or Big XII schedule is brutal. Utah plays an exhibition schedule en route to a BCS game. Not their fault, but it's the truth.
