Heck...LSU was leading going to the 4th. My point, however, was his claim that "no team came close to Auburn" was not really true. I remember watching that LSU/Auburn game and thinking how lucky Auburn was to convert that 4th and 12. Every team that wins a championship/goes undefeated needs some luck and that was Auburn's turn.

What ATF said was incorrect, but still, 1/13 teams being in a position to win a game is unheard of outside of the GOAT team (who had 0/12 teams).

You think they were better because you are a Horn fan. They "might" have been better but it doesn't really matter. 01 Miami was the best team of the decade followed by 2004 USC.

BTW, I want to know what NFL talent the 2004 Auburn team has that's better than OU's 2004 NFL talent.

2004 OU had Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Brown, and Mark Clayton. Peterson and Brown are pro bowlers and Clayton would probably be a pro bowler if he didn't play for the Raven's anemic offense.

Here are some other NFL players off of that 2004 OU team

Mark Bradley
Travis Wilson
Tashard Choice
Dusty Dvoracek
Clint Ingram
Brandon Jones
Zach Latimer
Brodney Pool
JD Runnels
Wes Sims
Marcus Walker

So OU had 14 NFL players on the 2004 squad and two of those players are stars in the NFL. This doesn't even include OU's heisman winning QB.

Auburn has had:

A quarterback going on his fourth year of starting in the NFL
A rookie of the year RB
A pro bowl RB
A 2 time pro bowl LT
A starter at guard since his rookie year
A pro-bowl DT
A top 10 corner back

I believe Auburn had more player from their team suit up in the NFL last year than Oklahoma did, but I don't know the situation with the freshmen from OU's 04 season.

Re: Top Undefeated Teams of the Decade?

LMAO at Chokelahoma fans trying to put down 04 Auburn.

That's fine if you feel a team like 01 Miami was better, but to make comments as if Auburn were one of the worst Undefeated teams this decade is freaking laughable.

Once AU "found themselves" in that fourth quarter against LSU, they mauled through the rest of their schedule. As Cebby has pointed out, that team was loaded with future NFL players (not that THAT even matters, this isn't a "who has more NFL players" thread), had the #1 defense in the nation, and an offense that was incredibly balanced led by 3 First round draft picks in the backfield.

I'd take that team any day of the week and twice on Sundays against any of those Chokelahoma teams that blew it in the big game, not to mention 05 Texas (coached by the Same Chizik on Defense) or any other team this decade. It was a great squad. The best? Don't know. But definitely able to beat any of the teams mentioned.

What OU fan put down Auburn?

I said that 01 Miami and 2004 USC were the best teams of the decade. If that makes you upset so be it. Just because I don't worship your precious Tigers doesn't mean I'm putting them down.

People were talking about NFL talent and I was just pointing out that 2004 OU's talent was comparable than Auburn's NFL talent.

I have admitted that Auburn was really good in 2004. In 2004 when that whole BCS debacle took place I even said that Auburn deserved to be in the title game. That being said, Auburn hasn't really done much since then and sucked last year.

The Chokelahoma comment was cute but talking smack doesn't really mean much when your team goes 5-7 and hasn't been relevant for 5 years.

Auburn had a shot at the national championship game in 2006.

of course you would say that about '04 SC. Many 0U fans still have Stockholm syndrome to this day towards the Trojans because of that game.

The Sooners made the entire big 12 look bad in that bowl (some things never change). It's a good thing Texas cleaned up 0U's mess and redeemed the conference the next season. One good thing though about 0U tarnishing the rep of the conference is that it raised the betting line for the NC the next season [/end smack]

I said 2001 Miami was the best team of the decade followed by 2004 USC. What's wrong with that?

I'm a neutral party here. I don't even like Miami or USC.

Would you Auburn and Texas fans like to tell me which teams were better? Just kidding, I already know your agendas.

It's not surprising that an Auburn fan and a Texas fan jumped in and started talking smack about OU for no reason. I'm sorry you guys can't accept the truth.
