He was so good at finding small holes and moving forward to keep the offense moving and this was evident throughout the whole season. Not only was he underrated but the whole team was and with their performance they deserve to be among the top 3.

You can't call them the "luckeyes" either. That was the style of Football they played. Every game was close because they played field position and clock management. Plus their offense wasn't explosive, it was just really good and doing exactly what I mentioned.

Edit: Saying that 05 Texas had the best performance of any team in the decade. They truly beat a team that the whole nation, besides Texas fans thought was unbeatable.
So if you put them in the Top 3, who do you bump 04 USC, 05 Texas or 01 Miami.

I see no way that Ohio State team compares to any of those 3 teams, all who had defenses equally as good or better than Ohio State, and a ton more talent on offense.

*waits for the Auburn fans to burn me at the stake for comparing those two teams*
Because it's an absolutely retarded comparison and pure revisionist history.

Auburn won the first Tennessee game by defense?

THEY SCORED 31 POINTS IN THE FIRST HALF ON THE ROAD AGAINST A TOP 10 TEAM.

The only time they had the ball in the first half and didn't score was when they drove the ball 79 yards and fumbled on the one yard line.

In the Georgia game they were up 24-0 with 2 minutes left, having 404 yards of offense against a top 5 team, despite throwing only 3 passes in the fourth quarter.

Just because I'm too lazy to look it up, how different was 01 Miami and 02 Miami?

Alright after checking:

TE: Shockey was replaced by Winslow II
HB: Portis was replaced by McGahee
LT: McKinney was replaced by Carlos Joseph
RG: Martin Bibla was replaced by Ed Wilkins
RT: Joaquin Gonzalez-Vernon Carey
OLB: Chris Campbell-Howard Clark
CB: Mike Rumph and Phillip Buchanon- Kelly Jennings and Al Marshall
SS: Ed Reed-Sean Taylor

I think the difference would be, 01 miami had the depth. All of those great players were BACKUPS to the great players in front of them in 01. 02 you lose a lot of the depth. They had NFL starters backing up other NFL started in 01

Plus they were much more experienced. While ****ing Soldier and Sean Taylor were great, I think they were RS Freshmen taking over for an RS senior and RS junior. And some of those trades were pretty significant downgrades regardless of age.

Absolutely retarted? Yeah right.

Rosegreen had FOUR interceptions that night that set up the Auburn offense over and over again.

I know is blasphemy to try and compare that unbeatable Auburn team to anyone, but the resemblances of them to the '08 Alabama team are numerous.

Not really.

Here were Rosegreen's interceptions:

2nd Quarter:

Auburn starts on own 31 yard line, drives 62 yards, and kicks a field goal

3rd Quarter:

Auburn starts at own 20, drives 14 yards, and punts

4th Quarter:

Auburn starts at mid field, runs the ball 8 times and a row, and is intercepted on the first pass

Auburn starts at own 13 and runs out the clock

So those four interceptions resulted in...3 points.

Auburn's scoring came on drives of:

55 yards
79/1 yard (Auburn drives 79 yards and then back to back fumbles at the 1)
69 yards
50 yards
68 yards
41 yards

Auburn's defense was great, but it hardly "won them the game" as you put it.

Enjoy making more stuff up

The 02 Ohio State team could have beaten the 05 Texas team and probably competed with 04 USC. 01 Miami was a completely different monster.

They would have been smashed by 04 USC but I do believe they would have beaten 05 Texas.

Re: Top Undefeated Teams of the Decade?

Yea, Auburn almost lost to LSU, Alabama, and Virginia Tech...hardly running through their schedule. I'm an SEC guy, a UK fan, so I like Auburn and think they would have given USC all they could handle as Auburn didn't make mistakes ala Chokelahoma who humiliated themselves and totally imploded against USC. That game was very close for a quarter until the idiot OU punt returner fumbled inside his own 15 yard line.

I rank them

1. 01 Miami
2. 04 USC
3. 05 Texas
4. 04 Auburn
5. 08 Utah

Honorable Mention: The 02 Ohio State Luckeyes...I just can't put them on the list when the refs stole the national championship from Miami and they could have lost 6 games that they won all by a TD or less...
