You are incorrect.
A good quarterback would have beaten Utah, Toledo, and NW. There is your bowl eligibility.

Then again, RR would still be coaching the team, so who knows.

LOL at the beating Utah comment, it isn't like tOSU would have beaten them either.

Utah's only touchdown came after a horribly thrown interception from walk on Nick Sheridan and Michigan had the ball twice late in the game for a go ahead score, but Threet did nothing. I don't think it's a stretch to say Michigan could have beaten them with a better QB that day.

And you think Mallett was that good QB? Same QB who put up worse stats than Threet did despite having an infinitely better offensive line, Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington and Mike Hart? Same QB who was having transfer thoughts the instant he arrived in Ann Arbor? Same QB who was told by Lloyd Carr himself that "the only thing I like about you is your potential"? Same QB who was going to be gone whether the coach was Lloyd Carr, Rich Rodriguez, Les Miles or Jesus Christ?

Re: 2010 Recruiting Thread

Excerpt from MGOBLOG where they discussed vexxer stupid satement that we should have just ran a pro-style while bringing in the spread.

- Rodriguez hasn't run a pro-style offense in two decades. How is he supposed to teach something he doesn't know very well? How is he supposed to run an offense completely divorced from his own? What is the point of hiring Rich Rodriguez?

-----

So you've got one of two options here:

1. Decide to run an offense you have zero experience with that finished just above 70th with an enormous slate of NFL talent in the vague hope you make a crappy December bowl game if it's even an improvement, which it probably won't be, or…
2. Get on with the process of building your program.

The rest of the article is http://mgoblog.com/content/golden-age-tin there.

I agree with everything that is said why try and delay your transition just for a December bowl game with a team full of young players when just get the damn thing over with.

Both of you two (+Psyblast) seem to be very passionate about your opinions here.

I'm not trying to say run a pro system at all. I was merely suggesting the use of a spread system that relies less on a running quarterback and more on a a passing attack. Sure, Mallet was the absolute epitome of a pocket passer, but between him, Threet, and the walk-on, I'll take Mallet.

Psyblast, is it me or do you have some deep seeded hatred for Ryan Mallet? Hit on your girlfriend or something?

That's quite the mis-informed poster, now isn't it? You didn't watch that game did you?

Also, there was absolutely no need to try to bring tOSU into it. You were just trying to get a rise.

Thats exactly what Rodriguez was going to do with Mallet. Its not like Rich just ran him out of town. He tried to keep him in Ann Arbor.

I'm not the one who said the line about only liking his potential. Maybe Mallett hit on Carr's wife.....and everybody else's, because basically to a man, nobody on the football team liked the guy, and nobody blinked an eye when he left.
