How is that ironic?

WOW

This kid could've gone to pretty much any private school he wanted to and he's leaving to go to a public school in Nebraska because it's 'better'.

Maybe not ironic, but weird that I had a friend who plays football transfer from there, too.

Honestly, who just gets up and moves to Nebraska? This Oku fellow sure does seem strange...

Re: 2009 Recruiting Thread

Fresh from Oku...

Former Carl Albert standout David Oku has enrolled at Lincoln (Neb.) East High School, Oku said Monday.

“I just left because I wanted to,” Oku said. “I wanted to start something new at a new school, and it’s a better school with more classes I get to take.”

Oku, the No. 1 all-purpose back in the class of 2009, according to Rivals.com, ran for 1,905 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Class 5A runner-up last season. The two-time Oklahoman All-Stater was recently named to Parade Magazine’s All-American team.

He orally committed to Tennessee, then wavered when coach Phil Fulmer was fired. Oku is one of the few top football recruits from the class of 2009 to remain unsigned. The signing period that began Feb. 4 runs until April 1.

Despite his new residence, which is not far from the University of Nebraska, a school that was once in contention for Oku’s services, he said the list of schools has not changed — despite a wave of optimism online from Cornhuskers fans.

“People can think what they want to,” Oku said. “My recruiting is still the same with one school added.”

Oku said he was considering Auburn, Tennessee, Syracuse and a newcomer to the list, Ole Miss.
