Okay, so he's probably just building some "suspense" for that.

I think Andre Debose is announcing at the Under Armour game.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Thread

Here's an updated list of players announcing during All-Star games this weekend:

U.S. Army All American Bowl:
RB Christine Michael- Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas
DT William Campbell- Michigan, USC, Alabama, Miami, Florida, LSU
QB Tajh Boyd- Oregon, Ohio State, Virginia, Boston College
WR Bryce McNeal- Oregon, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Colorado & Clemson
WR Rolando Jefferson- Oregon, USC (No Offer), Miami
WR Kraig Appleton- Illinois, Wisconsin
OT Xavier Nixon- Florida, LSU, Miami, UNC, NC State
OL Brennan Williams- BC, UNC, UVA, Wake Forest
CB Michael Carter- Minnesota, West Virginia

Under Armour All American Game:
CB Brandon Smith- Georgia, FSU, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida
S Craig Loston- LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M
ATH Andre Debose- LSU, Florida, Miami, FSU
OL John Martinez- LSU, USC, UCLA
DT Corey Adams- ASU, USC, Ohio State
DE Dyron Dye- LSU, Florida, Miami, FSU

Michael has already said he's committing to Texas A&M.

Also, I don't think Rolando Jefferson is even at the game.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Thread

Aubrey Phillips is "100 percent committed to Tennessee" but taking all of his visits, including to FSU on the final weekend. I love our chances if we're his last visit.

I'm pretty sure Loston's been an LSU silent since the moment he decommitted from Clemson.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Thread

That's what I've heard, I actually thought he had committed publicly to LSU.

Brown questions NY Times story

Chuck Carlton E-mail News tips

In accordance with NCAA rules, Texas coach Mack Brown declined Monday to comment about Lufkin defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland, who committed to Oklahoma at 12:01 a.m. on Christmas day.

But the New York Times story that detailed the recruiting struggle between the Sooner and Texas was fair game.

The piece, by writer Thayer Evans, detailed a wild party hosted by Texas fans in Dallas, which McFarland attended. It also reported the offer of an interest-free low to McFarland's mother, Kashemeyia Adams, if McFarland were to attend Texas, although the offer did not come from a representative of Texas, according to Adams. McFarland later told Rivals.com that the party account had been "spiced up" for a class paper.

After the Texas traveling party arrived Monday in Phoenix to begin preparation for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Brown answered questions about the article, but not the recruit.

Asked about if he had any knowledge of possible recruiting improprieties, Brown answered: "Absolutely not. We encourage the NCAA to check out every player we're recruiting every year. We call them and ask them to. We welcome them there."

Brown was also concerned by a behind-the-scenes piece authored by Evans last season about California running back Darrell Scott, who eventually chose Colorado over Texas at the 11th hour.

"One-sided stories usually don't make it when sources aren't checked on the other side," Brown said. "The story has absolutely no credibility with me because the writer did the same thing exactly last year and it's obvious he has an agenda, in my mind, against Texas."

Neither Brown nor Texas athletic spokesman John Bianco said they were contacted by the Times for comment before publication.

At the same time, Brown seemed ready to move ahead with bowl preparation.

"If I worried about everything bad written about me in my life, I'd never sleep," Brown said.

Nixon & Williams should consider what a great tandem they would make in Chapel Hill.
