He was committed to Michigan for 8 months, and for all of 12 days out of those 8 months, he was the only QB committed. He knew all along Michigan wanted two QBs, and he never voiced any concern about it. 48 hours after he told people "I'm coming, I'm definitely coming. Tell them I'm coming", he changed to Tulsa, and it had nothing to do with another QB being committed.

4 star WR James Green committed to Kiffin today. He should be a nice compliment to Marlon Brown if we can get him away from UGA or Alshon Jeffrey from USC

Has Long firmed up his pledge to WVU?
By Mike Farrell, Recruiting Analyst

Rumor surfaced recently that four-star wide receiver Deon Long out of Washington (D.C.) Dunbar may be on the verge of a major scholarship. Rivals caught up with 6-foot-0, 175-pounder to find out more on the latest with his recruitment.

“Florida was talking about it, but they haven’t offered,” he said. “In fact, I’ve firmed up my commitment with West Virginia.

“I took one visit. I was thinking about trips to Maryland and Michigan State, but I’m solid now.”

Long confirmed he is done with the recruiting process. What does he like about West Virginia?

“I like the fans, the atmosphere and the team,” he said. “I like the fact they are taking an offense built around players for what they are trying to do.

“I really like Coach Beatty and Coach Galloway. They are just calling to check up on me and tell me I’m doing well. I like that they have opened what they are trying to do on offense. They are getting the tools with a pocket quarterback, not a running one to throw the ball downfield. They are getting players that can catch the ball too.”

In one other note, Long announced he plans to enroll at West Virginia in January.

That was hilarious.

The "continue to be" is the key.

No offense though...what kid commits to a school with no HC and what school honors a commitment when they have no HC?

Re: 2009 Recruiting Thread

Why did they freak out about that, that is what happens when a new coach is hired.

Hey at least Syracuse isn't known for losing. Syracuse being the crappiest team in America is surprising, unlike a certain NFL team...

I Am very surprised with this, When you have a good player Committing to you, especially when you suck, YOU KEEP HIM. Unless Marrone has a bunch of 4-5 star players coming in so he cannot spare the Scholarship, but we all know that is not the case.

I am upset by this But I will give marrone the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this kid didnt have the grades or was just overrated. The worst part about this though is that we get to keep a CRAPPY QB.

Marrone has faced this situation before. He's back to 1984, Nebraska eve, an underdog once more. He's writing again, not a letter on paper but a script in his mind, working that familiar theme: We're gonna win. We're gonna win.

He cannot fail.
