Tiffin is good, but not great. He can't ever come through in the clutch.

Lol, I definitely wouldn't attempt to blame Tiffin's one missed field goal as having hurt the team's confidence. I'd say the kickoff team not filling the gaps on that return and a series of boneheaded plays from Ma. Johnson and Rolando did more to hurt the team than that one missed field goal. I'm not sure what you want from the guy, he did his job and did it very well in spite of the rest of the team's miscues. Like I said, without him, Bama loses. How is Cade Foster gonna come in and make a win more of a win?

Lol, can't come through in the clutch, you guys are a trip. You might not think he's great, but he performed great last night. I just don't see how you could place any kind of blame on him.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

Terry Grant was working with the WR's in practice. That tells me two things.

1. The coaches want to get Grant the ball in some way. He's definitely not a prototypical Nick Saban RB in the fact that he's a burner, not a bruiser. He's got great speed and he is elusive when he has the ball in open space. Putting him in the slot would work well I think. I think Maze has locked up #2 WR duties and Hanks #3 WR duties. We need a 4th and I think Grant will see time in that position.

2. Welcome to SEC football Trent Richardson. He's our #3 back now which everyone assumed would happen this year. Hopefully Richardson gets about 8-9 carries in the FIU game and a few more in the UNT game.

Anyone else in love with this offense? I can't get over how badass it is. Our 3 RB's LOOK for people to run over. They hit the hole, lower that shoulder, and go to work. It's a thing of beauty when this offense is in a groove. The tight ends get open on those short routes and eat up 8-10 yards. Maze is a HUGE threat deep. Julio can make every catch. Hanks is asserting himself as a threat in those underneath routes. Once we figure out the Wildcat formation and make the correct reads, we'll have a pretty good offense. And it will be downright scary if this defense gets an offense that can put up 25 points per game. Hell maybe even 18-20 per game.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

It was good to see Hanks step up, and make some big catches. McElroy has 3 receivers, a TE, and a RB that proved Saturday night they can catch the ball! This offense has potential to be very good. Did I mention that they gained almost 500 yards of total offense!

As expected, Rivals 100 DE/LB 4* Alfy Hill committed to the Tide this morning. He chose BAMA over NC and had offersHe was recruited for the Jack LB position and it's thought he'll be the perfect fit at the position in the future. Excellent pickup. Saban continues to pick up the running giants. LINK

This year, Alfy Hill got himself the best birthday present – a football scholarship to Alabama.

Hill, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end at West Brunswick, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide Wednesday, choosing the school where he made his unofficial visit on his 18th birthday over more than 50 others.

Hill, the fourth-ranked overall prospect in the state and 10th at his position nationally by Rivals.com, had narrowed his list to Alabama and North Carolina.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

My "on the fly" analysis....

-We seriously have to become more disciplined on kickoffs. Two weeks in a row we've allowed a TD on a kickoff. It took away momentum against VT and again this week.

-Upchurch just can't get lucky with injuries. Losing him hurts. He was a punishing runner who was a legit threat in the passing game as well.

-Trent Richardson is proving why he was a 5 star recruit. Came in last week and looked good. Came in this week and goes for 115 yards. Him and Ingram are a great duo. Our running game will continue to flourish this season.

-Holy mother is Greg McElroy accurate. I had the privelege of being next to a former player in our section at the game. He's a graduate now(but still got a student ticket and sat in the Greek section with us)and played 2 years under Shula and 2 under Saban. He said "Greg was always the best QB, but JPW had the experience and that's what Saban likes in a player. JPW knew the offense better than anyone". While he's not an elite QB, McElroy is good enough to take this team to the next level.

-McCoy had a solid game. Hopefully he continues this and becomes a good 3rd or 4th WR.

-Of course that's assuming Julio isn't hurt too bad and will be good to in time for North Texas(or even Arkansas the next week). Maze, as we already know, is the #2 guy. I think Hanks and McCoy are competing for #3.

-Saw Bowman get some action tonight. Kid's bigger than I thought.

-Our secondary is our weakness on defense once again. Really hope Dre Kirkpatrick picks up the defense quick so he can get in the rotation. Robby Green got flat out beat on FIU's big pass play in the 1st half.

-Eryk Anders' tackling style bothers me. He should have had a sack in the 1st half but his "drive the QB back as opposed to planting his *** in the turf" approach allowed the QB to get rid of the ball.

-Dareus is a beast. Plain and simple.

This defense is one of the top 5 in the nation despite being average in pass coverage. Our front seven is just that good. Once Kirkpatrick gets the playbook down and gets into the rotation to take Johnson's place at #2 corner, we'll be insanely good on defense. Just need to get our act together on special teams. A team like Florida will eat us alive if we perform on ST like we are right now.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

Arkansas game time has been set. 2:30 PM kickoff on CBS.

Kentucky game on the 3rd is probably going to be on FSN or ESPNU at 6 PM.
