Me too! OL is the #1 concern for me right now.

That sucks if the Grant stuff is true because we aren't even recruiting him to the same position as Seastrunk and Dyer.

Ok I'm not saying the kid sucks or anything but if McElroy is so good and JPW was so bad why wasn't he the starter? I know JPW was a senior but they both had the same amount of time in the system. Not trying to hate I mean auburn doesn't even have a quarterback.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

Because JPW was the starter when Saban got here. And in '07, Saban basically kept JPW as the starter so the transition would be easier for the offense since at the time, McElroy was a freshman. Then '08 came, and since JPW had the experience, there was no QB competition.

The last season had nothing to do with talent at QB, it had everything to do with experience and the ability to manage a game.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

Brandon Fanney is transferring. Most likely to UNA.

This all but solidifies Hightower's starting role as the Jack. Starting LB's against VT...

Rolo, Reamer, Hightower, and either Nico Johnson or Jerrell Harris.

Upshaw might be the #2 jack. That's a hell of a LB corps.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

I think Hightower will do very well at Jack, and should generate some pass rush. I still hate to see Fanney leave. He made a major contribution last year to the team's success, and was graded highly by the coaches. We could always use his experience, and the depth he would provide. I guess we wasn't comfortable with the idea of splitting time with Hightower, and had been in Saban's doghouse. Oh well....Another one of Shula's boys makes an early exit.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

I hate to see him leave as well. He's a solid player. Gotta get those numbers down somehow though. On the bright side, he is going to UNA and I know Bowden is ecstatic to have him. Huge upgrade for the Lions, and the Tide have better talent waiting in the wings.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

I know Auburn was expecting to have a big recruiting weekend this coming weekend, but hey atleast they got one thing right, there is a big recruiting weekend in the state of Alabama this weekend..

List of Visitors this weekend for Alabama
-Rivals100 ATH Keenan Allen
-Rivals100 ATH Demarco Cobbs
-Rivals100 DE Gabe King
-Rivals100 DE Alfy Hill
-Rivals250 DT Carlton Martin
-Rivals250 DT Byron Bennett
-Rivals250 LB Chris McCain
-Rivals250 TE Brian Vogler
-Rivals250 LB C.J. Mosley

In addition, several commits from the '10 class will be there as well as Lincoln(AL) RB D.J. Howard. Its possible he could get an offer at the camp and IF that happens, look for him to name us his leader.
