I think LT is a better recruiter, but I believe that Willis is a better position coach. I've heard some nasty things about the reason why LT had to get out of T-town.

A very brief answer: LT "fooled around", his wife would file for divorce if he did not make the move to Tennessee.

Thats what I heard.

Linebacker recruit Petey Smith to Alabama ... soon

http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2009/01/...tey_smith.html

Quote:
"I had been feeling Alabama for awhile already, and when I found out they hired Coach Willis, that just put them over the top," Smith told BamaOnline.com "Coach Willis and I have a great relationship. He always shoots me straight and I shoot him straight. He has always been direct around me and I think he will put me in a position to succeed in college. I really wanted to play for him for a long time. If I went to Auburn, it was pretty much going to be because of Coach Willis."

Smith, a 6-foot, 245-pound prospect who was down to Alabama and Auburn (where is brother is a running back), went so far as to tell CrimsonConfidential.com, "I'm going to Alabama. Alabama is just a better school, and that's where I want to go."
Now thats funny!

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

Saban's vulgar display of power

Quote:
TUSCALOOSA — Alabama coach Nick Saban has no problem with current Crimson Tide commitments visiting other campuses before National Signing Day on Feb. 4, as long as that other school is not Tennessee.

In the wake of former Alabama linebackers coach and touted recruiter Lance Thompson's abrupt departure last week for Tennessee, two blue-chip UA pledges from Thompson's former recruiting area have cooled noticeably on the Vols.

Pensacola's Trent Richardson, rated by many as the top running back in the nation, essentially dropped Tennessee from his list recently, according to those close to the prep standout. He is not expected to visit UT next weekend, as was originally planned before Thompson's exit for Rocky Top.

Re: 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide

I'm really interested in seeing who the 11-14 players saban is going to have to cut in order to make the numbers work. I'm doubting there will be much backlash for the media though.

Because we weren't able to make the numbers work last year either, right?

I'm interested to see how mediocre Auburn's class is going to be come next Wednesday. But I'm sure the media backlash for that will cease to exist.

I know you are trying to insult me, but I am asking a legitimate question. There will 1 or 2 guys go on injury hardship i'm sure, but looking at the roster, who has to approach spring practice like their scholarship depends on it?
