2012 Tennessee Vols

Will start with this 2012 preview vid, which was pretty well done IMO. At the 3:10 mark, there is a catch that was one of the best highlights I remember from last season.....which was pretty sad, but moving on and hoping for a great year in 2012.

Re: 2012 Tennessee Vols

If we can find any semblance of a running game, the offense has a chance to be really, really good. Hunter, Rogers and Patterson with Rivera at TE is going to be hard to stop.

Now, defensively ...

Re: 2012 Tennessee Vols

If McCullers plays to potential on the defensive line, we might win some ballgames this year. I still think it will be a matter of us putting up 21 points a game to be able to win. One thing that does have me optimistic about the defensive secondary is that they have moved Byron Moore to the starting job over Brewer. Brewer is going to be used as a type of LB/SS hybrid, kind of like Urlacher (no, Im not comparing the two) was in college. He can hit and tackle well, but he would have trouble covering a small child.

Not much else that has to be said, but this is a must win for UT and especially Dooley.

The more things change ...

Not making them pay for the fake punt was the turning point. Going for the touchdown on the first play (the intentional grounding) wasn't the smartest call. I think the whole stadium knew that was coming.

Re: 2012 Tennessee Vols

Almost went over to the game in Starkville this weekend, but with the wife being preggo we decided against it. I don't think you guys have much chance unless the "this is why we are Miss State" factor plays a role. Your strength is the passing game, State's is pass defense. Sad to say, but this is a big game on the MSU schedule and even though I know State has the better team I still worry they find a way to lose. Hopefully UT loses that way I can be happy about a win and you guys can be happy about the new coaching search that should follow shortly after.

So that coaching search, it's begun, right?

I see Michael Bolton of Office Space fame is a UT fan.

As bad as things are and have been, he has still managed to beat Vandy

This right here is proof things are moving in the right direction and he needs more time in Knoxville. I'm hoping he gets at least another year. Hell, you guys should go ND-Weiss and hand him a 10 year contract!

Seriously, I do see improvement from year to year, and he was left with a program that was decimated, especially on the offensive line. I think UT is a scary team next season and I hope you guys don't fall into the fools gold of hiring somebody next year, them having a great season and extending his contract immediately. UT is going to be loaded and I think even with Dooley they will have a good season.
