The only reason for IU's high ranking is because no one else had filled up their class. Right now IU has the #88, #93, #97, and #103 player on Rivals. Look at the 2012 team rankings; every team above Florida (#20) had a top 60 player. Once all the top 20 players start committing a lot of schools will move ahead of IU and Purdue.
Getting 5 (BeeJay will sign) of the top 100 players in the country=one of the best classes in the country, trust me. For the 2012 class they were ranked #5 and had the #19, #41, #43, and #141 ranked players in the country. Heck they were ranked #3 on scout for 2012.

And i am not selling anything, read my post above. They will have plenty of openigs after this year. Let me break it down for you.
Below is there roster for next year. Scholly players only, notice they have 13.
The following year they will lose 4 seniors, right now they have signed 4 recruits.
If they sign a 5th the will be one over. Keep in mind Zeller could leave and be a lottery pick after next year. Also they will have a ton of very talented players.I am guessing atleast one will leave because they will not play much and will want to go somewhere they can play. They really have a very tough problem, that is having so much talent.

1 Jordan Hulls 6-0 181 Guard sr Bloomington, Ind.
2 Christian Watford 6-9 225 Forward sr. Birmingham, Ala.
3 Maurice Creek 6-5 195 Guard sr. Oxon Hill, Md.
4 Victor Oladipo 6-5 214 Guard jr. Hyattsville, Md.
10 Will Sheehey 6-6 200 Forward jr. Stuart, Fla.
13 Austin Etherington 6-6 198 Forward so. Cicero, Ind.
23 Remy Abell 6-3 195 Guard so. Louisville, Ky.
32 Derek Elston 6-9 225 Forward sr. Tipton, Ind.
40 Cody Zeller 6-11 230 Forward so. Washington, Ind.

I haven't read anything about any of next years recruits going to a prep school. From what I have read all 5 plan on being in Bloomington this summer. Things could change and one could end up going the prep school route to free up a scholarship for next year, but I don't expect it.

The rumor going around earlier this week was a possible transfer of a current player, but as that's just a rumor right now, so I'm going to wait until something becomes official before believing it.

Inside The Hall has a great chart which shows IU's scholarship numbers for the next couple years. http://www.insidethehall.com/scholarship-numbers/

I am certain it will all work itself out, like i said some guys will come in and not play much and want to transfer. Also like i said its a good problem to have when you have so much talent that talented kids cant get on the court. 3 years ago we would have killed for any of these kids.

Yeah, I'm not going to worry about it as I trust Crean and obviously he knows your only allowed 13 scholarship players. So, since he's still recruiting for the class of 2013 he must know things will be changing with the team in regards to players going pro or even being unhappy/homesick/grades/whatever and may transfer.

The one thing I will take from this though is that I'm going to make sure and enjoy every second I get to watch Zeller in a IU uniform this season. It starting to seem to me that this will most likely be his final season at IU as it seems like the staff is even preparing for that. Especially if IU lands Beejay Anya who I think IU has to be the frontrunner for considering Crean just hired an assistant with ties to the DC area, Stanford Robinson being his AAU teammate, and Beejay Anya himself saying that Victor Oladipo is like a brother to him.

Now that VTech has finally released Montrezl Harrell from his committment, Pitino and Calipari will go at it in yet another recruiting battle along with Donovan & Gootfried with a short amount of time to make their pitch. Very athletic & 6-7 230LBS, he's going to be a great late period get for any of the aformentioned.

You're ignoring the fact that Maurice Creek will probably get a medical red shirt for 2011-2012, so you're over by one right now for 2013. Say Zeller leaves early (probably the only one, I don't see any of your freshmen as one-and-dones as the most talented ones are a little raw), then you're even for 2013. Add Anya and you're over again and likely going to need a transfer or Creek to not get his medical red shirt. I also haven't seen anything about Patterson going to prep school, and even if he was that wouldn't change anything for 2013.

And getting top 100 players is way different than getting top 50 players. Seriously, go back and look at the rankings for 2012. IU would not have a top 5 class even with Anya. I could see IU moving into the top 10 with Anya.

In any case, it's a little disappointing to see IU and Purdue beginning to over-sign in basketball like the SEC does in football. Purdue did it first, so I won't harp on you too much, but still.

Beilein does it too. At one point our 2013 class had us 2 or 3 over the limit.

Take is for what its worth but i am hearing Creek may never play competitive bball again. Again I am not saying he will never play again but a buddy of mine who lives in BTown is telling me he is not healing very well. And like i said it will all work itself out someone will just have to leave if he gets everyone he wants. Roth is more than likely going to have to be gone even tho he was granted another year by the NCAA. He needs to realize he is just not the caliber of player that should be playing for IU now. 4 years ago when no one wanted to come to IU after the Sampson scandel he was fine for IU, now not so much.

That should be in the 2012 thread...

I haven't heard/read anything recently with Maurice Creek, but the news that he isn't healing well goes against what was being said/seen during the NCAA tournament. He was practicing with the team in Portland and the guys who write for the Bloomington paper were saying he was looking pretty mobile and even doing some drills that involved cutting.

Also, last month Crean even had this to say about Creek's recovery:

“I’m very optimistic based on our three weeks of offseason, put it that way,” Indiana coach Tom Crean said on Tuesday in his first offseason meeting with the media. “He’s been doing the same things that the rest of them have been doing inside of how we’ve been working on the pick and roll, off screens and working through contact. He just hasn’t been in live situations of going against his teammates.”

Now granted practicing/drills is nothing like ready to play in a game, but the line on Creek's injury has always been that he should make a full recovery. Now, I don't expect Creek to be like the player who scored 31 against UK as a freshman, but barring a major setback he should be able to play again.
