A source also told ESPN.com that Kentucky has been investigating Wall's eligibility for months because his former AAU coach was a certified agent.

According to NCAA protocol, any case involving pre-enrollment amateurism issues would be investigated by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Wall and Sidney are eligible to practice but not compete until their amateur issues are resolved. If a player has an academic eligibility issue, he is not allowed to practice or compete.

Not surprised. There were some talks about him having grade issues, as well as articles saying the contrary. When Duke was pursuing him I was hoping the latter was true, but I guess not. [Reply]

From what I've heard, Wall's elegbility was a slam dunk, it was cousins that might be the Rose in the making. [Reply]

I hope the NCAA doesn't wind up doing like they did w/Rose. Sidney is as scary as they come. Wall's situation is frightening too. [Reply]

Wall will just end up sitting out 3-4 games and maybe having to pay some money back. [Reply]

This is truly a non-issue. Most UK fans that follow recruiting and anyone that is in the "know" have known about this for some time. Clifton never acted like an agent and therefore there will be no serious repercussions. The worst case scenario is that he sits for 3-4 games and pays back a small amount of money that Clifton may have paid for during unofficial visits. Which is completely legal for a AAU coach to do this, but he had a certified license as an agent at the time so that makes this whatever level of issue you want to call it.

To me, and most UK fans though, is why is it that ESPN's own Pat Forde (who has a GREAT dislike of Cal and UK) is JUST now coming out with this story and trying to make it a bigger deal than it actually is? Why is he not talking about Ryan Kelly who played for Clifton as well? Clifton wanted Wall to go to Duke real bad but Wall decided against it. Clifton wanted Kelly to go to Duke real bad and he did. But hey, it's Duke so it MUST be ok...lol

Here is how much of a non-issue this is. If Wall doesn't have the money to pay back everything then the NCAA would let him borrow it from them. Again, this isn't an issue that means much of anything, never has been and never will be. [Reply]

It is coming out because Mike Slive announced it I believe.

I do think this comment over at Catspause was great though:

Well I can certainly see the humor in it :-) [Reply]

Forde isn't a journalist, he's a columnist. Big difference. [Reply]

It wouldn't make sense for Calipari to risk getting a recruiting violation the first class he brings in, especially with the heat Memphis has taken the past year. The guy may be a sleazeball, but he's not dumb. [Reply]
